well this is just my opinion but... from my experience and from what i have noticed growing up in the U.S. Asian Americans are the least recognized. mostly all of our recognition have been through our own achievements and efforts. unlike hispanics and african americans have numbers on their side and the african american community is the highly accepted and incorperated into mainstream media here in the U.S. so i would not be surprised that this padgeant doesnt get any recognition. their have been little to no tv series, movies etc. where the male character had a lead role where he was neither portrayed as a loser or the kung fu guy. ( any one else notice?) i dont know why but i feel as though the U.S. really does want to keep asian americans on the DL. while the rest of the world is beginning to accept us like the french lao actor who has played lead roles as the good guy and bad guy( dont know if anyone here knwos who im talkin about but i have seen his post on AF.) any way the balance of power is begining to shift in this world and i know the overdue asian time is coming.

but still this was a great step for Lao people and the asian community as a whole this shows how much the asian community has come in the U.S. and the world.

to the above comment I don't think American ever think that Laotian women/men are unattractive looking people. Only some of us and Thai people think this way , many times I've heard if someone sees a pretty Laotian girl in  America  I often heard is she mixed or 100% Lao? speaking of Miss Asian America please listen to her interview with a Laotian radio personal, you will be please that she can say more than just sa bai dee.
