Plagiarism or not? Khmer does Lao song
Permalink

Do you think this is plagiarism? Or did they get permission to cover this Lao song?

Since they are both Axe company maybe they bought the rights? If this is plagiarized I think it is VERY wrong.

Give credit to Indee Records.

Since when Lao say "dtua" (body) like Thai instead of "dto".

and the other MV I swear I saw a sign say "TAWAN"(Thai word for the sun) instead of "TAWEN"(Lao word for the sun)

So now Lao can accept that Lao use Thai words? Or every Thai words is also Lao words?

As a matter of fact Lao does have a word for ( body) is "tone dtua"  some people said "dtau" is shorter than to say "tone dtua".

Maybe..... it's hard to say, the two languages are pretty similar but when I listen to Lao song I can pretty much tell if that's Lao word or Thai?

Example:  " huck" ( love ) is Lao

Example:  " rack " ( love ) is Thai

Example:   " ai " ( brother ) is Lao

Example: " phee " ( brother ) is Thai

From listening to some Thai song my other lao friend listen especially pop song. Thai are using our words like Huk and Boh and many other words calling it Thai.  And now when a Laotian making music they think we copy them or trying to be Thai which is why most of us here in the state just hated it.  But in general we don't hate Thai is just how they telling and teaching them about Laos and Laotian in general.no

But Graphic at the background need to modify again as you can see their shadows on the blue print

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kwanjai is not Lao/Viet or Thai or Viet but Kwanjai is Khmer or a dark skin Cambodian who want to mess up this board and created the issue. Kwanjai's families all passed away during the Khmer Rouge as they join the Red army. Kwanjai grown up alone with inferiority or mental complex. When she was little girl she was a begger before transformed herself into the gang of young prostitues and hooked some old Falang from Franch & Germany when she was at the age of 15.

7 years later, Kwanjai, she got some stupid old Falang took her from slum of Phnom Penh to the State and gave her the oppotunity on education but seem she was too late for her to study as her brain cells has little bit left. The only thing for her can do is SEX Service! She killed her old Faland husban and got all the money.

Now she still doing a hooker job in the State but she always telling her customers that she's Lao/Viet girl. She hiding her race as she said her dark and tan skin as she always go for sun bathing!!!

She's living in State with a lot of pressure as now she's getting old and her regular guesses has turn their ass to other young and hot Asian hookers.

She hate Thailand very much as Thai hookers are more freshy and smoothy skin than her dark and dull skin

She turn herself to be demon on the cyber world to attack and anti the sociel as much as she can. She found out that when she saw other people fighting then it created the happy virus in her blood cells

Yeah! never seen any Lao use that much of "h" but this guy tend to use "h" in almost every words that he used. it's remind me of Khmer, Phnompen. I can understand why Phnompen has "h" but why Khmer has "h" too?

You can see "Bor" in Esan or Northern Thai song and some old Thai poem.

Thanks for staying on topic. I was wondering this as well. But I am sure this song was originally meant for Laos. I dont know why the Cambodian Axe company didn't make their own song for the commercial. confuse

Anyways can we not turn this thread into a Lao VS. Thai word thread?

It is an Axe commercial and they own the song. This is an advertisment not a song. No plagarism here. The company had someone write the song and they use it sell their stuff. Clever advertisement has us thinking this is an artists song.

I heard Sam Inthalaphitak and another artist wrote this song and if I'm not mistaken, they both are Laotians.

Does that mean this song was originated by Lao?

^ if that is true then the work belongs to Sam and the other artist.
Sam is a singer-song writer so I'm not surprised. Kave also writes music if i'm not mistaken.

"This is an advertisment not a song"

it's still a song o__o

If you really want to complain, write to the AXE company. Things may not be the same as it looks. Be more open-minded please.

I'm not complaining. I just want to know if they plagiarized or had permission to do the song.

Some of you people need to go back to school and learn how to speak the Lao language properly. Dto and Dtua are two different Lao words and have different, but related meanings.

Both Dto and Dtua sound good in their own way. It's not about which Lao word sounds better, but you have to use either one in the proper context. We are lucky to have multiple words in our language that have slightly different meanings. Our language is rich.

The difference between Dtua and Dto is that Dtua only refers to the "body" in the literal and anatomical sense and is therefore a very specific word, whereas Dto means "body", "trunk", or "substance" in a general or vague kind of way.

i.e.

"Yaak Dai Song Dto"...meaning I want two of them...can be two chickens (their "bodies") or two items of anything like a piece of clothing...Dto is very vague and general). It's so vague that it is interchangeable with the Lao word "An"...i.e. An nee leu an nan (meaning This or That)...i.e. dto nee leu dto nan (also means This or That).

vs

Mot Dtua (meaning the entire body. Dtua literally means "body" in the direct and literal sense. It can only be used on living and breathing things like humans and animals, etc...).

If you are a Lao person, I think you need to stop watching Thai TV and watch Lao TV instead because your life seems to revolve around the Thai media. That's really embarrassing that you can't tell Lao and Thai apart. Just because your Lao vocabulary is limited does not mean every Lao word you're not familiar with is Thai, Korean, English, or whatever.

Go educate yourself and stop being ignorant.

So for anyone else who is Lao, please do us all a favor and STOP bringing up Thailand. No other Lao person thinks about Thailand except for the few of you who are ignorant and can't seem to get on with your life without having it revolve around Thailand. Watching Thai TV is not healthy for your brain since you're learning more about Thai culture than our own Lao culture. Watch Lao TV!

(to the person above me)

Thank you so much! You are amazing. People should read your post and learn. I think it's ridiculous how some Lao people don't know their own language and say we are using Thai words when in actual it is Lao.
