HA NOI — Viet Nam and Laos have agreed to continue building a strategy of co-operation in economics, culture, education, industry, agriculture and forestry, focusing on human resources development.

The agreement was reached between Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung and his Lao counterpart Somvasat Lengsavad at a meeting in Ha Noi yesterday.

They also agreed to joint ventures in the cultivation of industrial crops and rubber trees in Laos.

Hung said co-ordination between the countries in implementing agreements had benefited both peoples.

He also emphasised the need to speed up building the Meuangkhua-Tay Trang section of the road connecting northern Lao provinces with Viet Nam’s Dien Bien Province and other northwestern provinces.

He added that the strategic road had an important role in their socio-economic development and security and defence. Somvasat Lengsavad thanked Viet Nam for its help to Laos in different fields, especially in preparing infrastructural facilities for the 25th Southeast Asian Games to be held in Laos. — VNS

At first I was excited about Savan Vegas, but when I heard that their employees are not Laotians/locals I'm not too happy to see another casino is being consider in Laos.

What Lao need is theme park and it will be good for all walks of lifes and all ages.

I visited this Casino when it about officially open. I saw all the poker machines in bath thai money, security guards look like fillipino but girls and boys serving in cafe were lao....as they told me this Casino owner is american.
