after many tourism died on song river in Vangvieng, tourism are scared of going to Laos..

I think food price in Laos is more expensive than one in Thailand in the same quaility.

for example

Pancake or Rotee in VangVeing = 10,000 kip =40 bath
Pancake or Rotee in Khao San rd. =10-15 bath

Green tea in Veintien =25 bath
Green tea in Bangkok =20 bath

I think it is good news, because not so many poor tourists will come to Laos and destroy our fine culture and nature

Why are you so surprised that our lao wasn't pick? But Thailand. to me I'm not surprised at all, Because they the ''Thailand'' build their country as the world class destination or heaven for the tourist. we might have one or two things that better than them. but don't mean anything. also, I like to response the gentleman who made the comment about the tourist died. and the tourist are scare to go, You're funny? if I have to compare my country with our surounding neighbors, I knew that, my country would be safest country in the world. you can walk at night without get rob. and we still have alots of work to do.

You should not be surprised because Thailand has been a known tourist destination ages ago while Laos has only started to open to the tourism market. You need to be patient as comparatively still a small number of tourist has visited and known Laos compared to other countries that has been internationally marketing several tourist destinations in their area for so many years.

And saying that touris are afraid to go to Laos because of few incidence of death is totally absurd! In any part of the world tourist may die either naturally, accidentally or because of crime. The risk is always there as not all people in a given country can be all be 100% good. there is always rotten tomatoe(s), though risk is relatively high in areas where there is high terorristic activity or when there is an ongoing socio-political turmoil.

No outsider can destroy Lao culture unless it allowed them to be. Other nationalities can only influence but it is still the choice of the Laotians whether they will follow through or stick to the country's culture and traditions.

I agree with Speak Out, despite everything, Laos is one of the safest countyr on earth!C473

The thing is that our land does not close to the sea, we don't have beautiful beaches while Thailand, Cambodia and Vetnam has it.

Las Vegas is on the list? That said something about the list to be proud of. Come on Las Vegas has a nick name of Lost Wages. That's best value destination? "entertainment value yes"

I am so glad somebody else also think the price is crazy high. These street food and shop vendor think they can rip people off.

If they suspect you are a foreigner, they will increase the price of what they are selling. Food vendor in front of the mekong are not that clean. The setting is accetable if yo don't mind all the trash around you.
