Today is the day to celebrate of giving Thanks, But, as laotian-American, we don't really need to compare our self to those pilgrimages that land on Plymout, Massachusetts in 1600 something years or those land in Jametown early1600. But we, came as the civil war and cold war broke-out, some leave for political reason, some leave just because of economic hardship for a better life, and some leave because of the situation changed, and some leave because they see other people leave and have fun with leave and got stuck at the Camp and end-up send back home by the host countries. so anyway, as a times pastby, 10-years, 20-years, 30-or even 40 years, we were melt into societies and new world and change little by little. some change to fully Americans, some stay the same for whatever reason. Happy Thanks-Giving to all.
Well said bro speak-out!!! I'll be eating and drinking all day today.. I might watch the cowboys and broncos game. Happy Thanksgiving to you bro and to all laotians around the globe.

Today, i pick the Raiders and Lions to win. you probably think i'm a losser ha.But that ok. because i'm so tire to see them alway loss. Oh, what happened with my former favorite Teams 49'ers. they got their butts kick last week. But i still think they would make playoff this year, because NFC West not very strong. oH, Broncos too, will win today. so Happy thanks giving Bro, enjoy your day, Man.

well said!
I celebrated Thanksgiving simply because I wanted to Thank Chao Mae Toranee and Boon Koon Por Mae Kou Ba Aar Charn that protected and guided me toward a good life.
Sorry,I cannot answer your question. Do you know in your best knowledge that native Americans are buddhists? Did they celebrate Thanksgiving too? Thank you
If you saw the document called Darwin and Natural Selection Theory then you will see Catholism in a very different way....in Christian Bible it said Jesus Christ created all being in this planet by dirt ans ash, in 7 days....such a myth but still there are many people followed this religious....Darwin had a lot of troubles with the churches when he believed in people are from apes.....Buddhism is good for asian and good for Laos.
What a hell is Thanks Giving? Who are you thanking and giving? Is this just the American thing?
White people from England said thank you to native americans for giving them a lot of time to plan to take over your country. Giving? When white people landed on usa soil safely, native american gave them delicious food to eat also taught them how to plant corn and many things more to surive. When white people had enough skills, they realized this land is very valuable. Soon enough they gather together then decided to kill all americans as much as they can. This is what Thanksgiving all about. This is not happening in only US. It also happened to Laos country too. Vietnamese and Chinese said Thanks for giving free lands, profits, and no tax. This is Lao Thanksgiving(first day of opening sea game).

With all due respect to a Brothers/Sisters who made a comment about Thanksgiving, I think you were wrong and got only a piece of it. Here the truth and Accurate about Thanksgiving, Early hardships and the first Thanksgiving: The colonists suffered greatly during their first winter at Plymouth. Shelter was inadequate, disease was widespread, and food was scarce. fortunately, neighboring Indians were helpful. Massasoit, an Indian chieftain, made a treaty of peace with pilgrims that was maintained for many years. Two Indians, named Squanto and Samoset, showed the Pilgrims how to grow corn and where to hunt and fish. In the fall of 1621 the Pilgrims set aside a day of Thanksgiving for the year's blessings. They invited the Indians to join them in celebration of peace and plenty. The festival became known as the '' First Thanksgiving. so, hope everybody know it now. and also has nothing to do with the Religion things.Ok.

Slave:
1: a person held in servitude as the chattel of another 2: one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence 3: a device (as the printer of a computer) that is directly responsive to another 4:drudge, toiler
From definitions above, Lao-americans are not slave since they have freedoms.

Lao outside Laos, especially Lao Americans (Gosh, I dislike that word, Laonork) are slaves. Slave to their greed and desire. Slave to their house mortgage, their car's loan, their appetite for greasy fast food. Slave to their brand name clothes and apparels, slave to over-price ticket for boring American football, and slave to Apple who gets them hook on the Iphone and Ipod.

You're right!! Everybody wants to catch up with the Jones nowadays. Iphone? we have two, that is $170 a month after discount for civil service employee, and we get stuck for two years. Oh yeah, she only drives Lexus and carries $2k hand bag not including the purse inside the bag. It is sad that we make over 150k a year and beside our retirement accounts, we have little saving at the end of the year.
