But don't think that you would be a true millionaire as one million kip is not a huge sum.

Contrary to general belief, the cost of living in Laos is higher than that in Thailand.

I have been in Vientiane for one week and have spent millions of kip mainly on food, transport and necessary items.

A bowl of noodle soup generally starts from 13,000 kip (around 50 baht) and som tam (papaya salad) is about 10,000 kip, while a bottle of water is 3,000 kip.
