In terms of population ratios Lao (including Hmong) has the highest number of people in the US than Cambodians and Vietnamese.

Laotian American National Alliance, Inc.
501 c 3

VISION, MISSION, HISTORY OF THE LAOTIAN AMERICAN NATIONAL ALLIANCE

VISION: The Laotian American National Alliance (LANA) is the premier resource and advocacy organization in the United States who strives to cultivate the strengths and leadership of all Laotian Americans comprising of the diverse ethnic communities from Hmong, Iu-Mien, Khmu,  Lahu, Lao, Tai Lue, Phu Tai, Tai Dam, Tai Phuan and other descendants from Laos who make up the dynamic, collective Laotian American community.

MISSION:
The mission of the Laotian American National Alliance, Inc.(LANA) as a national organization, is dedicated to advancing the social, and economic well-being of Laotian Americans in the United States through civic participation and public policy advocacy.

To fulfill its mission, LANA has established the following goals to:
*Advocate for social justice, equal opportunity and fair treatment for all multi-ethnics from Laos.
*Promote civic participation, education, and leadership;
*Develop a new generation of non-profit, public sector, and corporate leaders.
*Advance coalitions and community building;
*Increase funding support for Laotian Community Based Organizations and Faith Based Organizations.
*Foster cultural heritage.

2008 There are now an estimated 500,000+ Laotians in the United States.

History of Laotian American National Alliance, Inc.
1997 National Association for the Education and Advancement of Cambodians, Laotians, and Vietnamese (NAFEA)

1999 December 9: Launch of the Laotian American National Alliance in Berkeley, California
The mission of te organization is to mobilize Laotian Americans by promoting social and economic advancement through civic participation and public policy advocacy. The idea for a Laotian national organization was born at the National Association for the Education and Advancement of Cambodians, Laotians, and Vietnamese (NAFEA) conference in 1997. After two years of planning, with technical assistance from the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC), a strategic plan and selection of an interim board of directors were the precursors to the formal launching of the LANA. Ms.KaYing Yang, executive director of SEARAC, stated, "LANA will serve as a vehicle to disseminate critical information such as federal policies, funding opportunities, legislative action alerts, urgent community concerns and professional networking. It will also serve as a bridge to build coalitions with other Asian American organizations, as well as other immigrant and civil rights groups." There are about 350,000 people of Laotian descent in the U.S. today, but they have no central community. At LANA's west coast launch, on December 9, in Berkeley, California, Board member Ms. Soudary Kittivong-Greenbaum said, "LANA will help strengthen our communities across the country by providing a core for national empowerment."

A member of interim Board of Directors, Mr.Khammany Matthavongsy stated, "The task of community building for the people from Laos has just begun. There are many issues that need to be resolved. But if each of us shares a common vision and takes the responsibility of making that vision a reality, we can meet the challenges with confidence and success." Mr. Puongpun Sananikone stated: "LANA is the result of the collective awareness and shared vision of a new generation of Laotian-American youth, professionals and sound-minded community leaders, who want to elevate our communities across the United States to new and higher levels of socio-economic progress." Mr. Sananikone went on to say, "To be able to participate productively in, and not be marginalized by the increasingly globalized American economy, Laotian-Americans must find new ways to free themselves from the crippling grip of outdated cold-war issues and mindset, which has divided and paralyzed many Laotian communities in the U.S. and around the world for the past two decades. LANA is an important new building block; a new, non-partisan catalyst to promote cooperation among Laotians of all ethnic origins, and to help redirect their attention and their scarce resources to those priorities that really matter to their future as United States citizens."
December 1999

December 2007 LANA obtains 501 c 3 status

Listen to our census report on Southeast Asian American Population, 4.01 MB audio clip

World population is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050
World population is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050
The 2005 American Community Survey estimates the Lao-American population at 193,247 compared to 168,707 in 2000. The vast majority were estimated to live in the West(95,574), followed by the South(44,471), Midwest(37,820), and Northeast(15,382).

The top states in terms of Lao-American populations according to the 2005 ACS estimates were: California (63,318), Texas (12,643), Minnesota (11,636), Washington (10,638), Iowa (6,129), North Carolina (5,854), Goergia (5,546), Tennessee (4,781), Michigan (4,735), and Florida (4,035). States that appear to have had significant increases in Lao population when comparing the 2005 ACS estimates to the 2000 Census figures include California, Washington, Iowa and Michigan with lesser increases in many other states including Minnesota (up from an enumerated 9,940 in the 2000 census). Notable decreases in Lao-American population show up in the 2005 ACS data in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin.

The total 2005 Hmong population in the U.S. was estimated at 183,265 compared to 169,428 in the 2000 census. The figures show that the Hmong population in the Midwest(95,902) has now far outpaced the West(73,526), continues to grow in the South(12,621), but remains very small in the Northeast(1,216).

The 2005 ACS estimtaes the top 10 states in terms of Hmong-American populations as follpws: California (65,345), Minnesota (46,352), Wisconsin (38,814), Michigan (7,769), Cplorado (4,285), NorthCarolina (4,172), Georgia (3,324), Missouri (1,553), Florida (1,423), and Washington (1,380).

The latest U.S census report also shows estimates for other Southeast Asian American ethnic groups

The 2005 American Community Survey estimates the Vietnamese-American population across the U.S. at 1,418,334 compared to 1,122,528 enumerated in the 2000 census (Vietnamese alone ethnic identification). The 2005 ACS estimates provide Vietnamese-American population regional distributions as follows West (694,859), South (425,248), Northeast (162,707), and Midwest (135,520).

The total 2005 Cambodian population in the U.S. was estimated at  217,438 compared to 171,937 (Cambodian alone ethnic identification) enumerated in 2000. More than 100,000 Cambodians were estimeted to live in the Western states, just under 50,000 in the Northeast, around 40,000 in the South and just under 20,000 in the Midwest. The top 10 rank-order states in terms of Cambodian-American populations were California (83,562), Massachusetts (24,172), Washington (16,082), Texas (12,112), Florida (7,889), Pennsylvania (6,194), Ohio (6,160), Minnesota (6,101), North Carolina(5,128), and Georgia (4,562).

         In the United states parents could not force their kids to marry some they don't love . You guy forget about the words money and love . No money so no honey .No money No love. show me the money. Stop complaining . If you are well educated ,intelligent and successful of course there would be any problems to find the lady. If you are high school drop out , sorry guy. Most of the older man go back to Laos and marry Sao Noi (young girl ) in Laos are the reject one . There are some Laotian marry white , Hispanic women and black women as well because they fell in love with each other. The expert of love and relationship could not be predicted why ?

Sorry I have to disagree with you 90% on this.
My husband and my brother treated their wife like Queen, and I'm not kidding!

Most are Buddhist...and if they are Buddhist Monks, then they don't have sex...so this would explain why they don't multiply as quick as others, because part of their male population is celibate.
