Jan 15 2010 - Laos would be showcasing its Paksong-grown coffee at a trade fair in Germany next month.
This was announced in a press conference at the Lao Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 12 January.
Present at the meeting were Mr Bountiem Saysomgkham, Head of the Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Office (SMEPDO), the president of the Lao Coffee Association and businessmen and women involved in the Lao coffee industry.
The meeting participated by civil servants and people from the private sector discussed impacts of the imposition of the value added tax (VAT) on the price competitiveness of three Lao products: coffee, wood and cardamom, with an emphasis on coffee for export.
Paksong, a district in the southernmost province of Champassak, has fertile land suitable for horticulture, particularly coffee and tea, among others. (KPL).
