This is ATR airplane used by Lao airline.

However, last week, the Phonsavanh group announced that they are going to build a new airline service, and is going to buy 3 airbuses to connect to other countries like singapore, china, korea, and Japan.

The battle of air service in Laos will have a new face soon.

Stay tuned

That's very, very great news!  Once again 4 us lao nork who love to go back home once or twice per year have to go via bkk.  Not only we have to connect there, but also spend $$$ along the way.  It's about time lao connects to other big industrialize nation in the region such as Singapore, S. korea, Japan etc.

Let's go Lao sou sou

Sincere person, Minneapolis MN.

What a visionary opportunist.
It should have been decided decades ago.
Image of the country is now raised to new height.
Laos will be eventually connected.

Thank you for sharing.
Now we can expect no monopoly and of course better service (hopefully) from airlines in Laos. Yeah...I guess cheaper fare?

How many stop over to reaching Japan or Korea?

For Singapore do we need to make 1 stop over at Bangkok first?

Small and old bird doesn't fly so far

Airline is not a good profit making business.  Look at JAL (Japan Airlines) the largest airline of Asia went bankruptcy.  Even low cost airlines are suffering loss and struggling to survive.

Well, once again, you have your facts wrong. The Japan flight was a one time thing, and they said they were looking in to wether or not it is a financially-viable flight plan. There are direct flights from China, just not from Lao airlines.

Do your self a favor and you think before you post. If there was a large enough demand for it, I'm sure they would have direct flights from Laos to anywhere, but obviously there is not. Since you would need large, long-range planes, do you think the airlines would make lots of money flying empty planes back and forth from Laos to Hong Kong.

i do agree with you.. businessmen were trying to research and do some business in Laos, but most of them have given up due to lack of opportunities and big market.  firstly I am looking forward to seeing the south korea airline will run business in Laos..i think I read about that on previous topic on Samakomlao.yawn

Well, since you said I am wrong.  Show me the airline that fly non-stop from VTE to Taipei, Hong Kong, or Japan???  As of last week, there are no direct flights from major cities such as Taipei, Hong Kong or Japan to VTE.  I've been looking to purchase some tickets to go back visit Laos and flights are limited.

Since you're Mr. Right here.... Why don't you show me the links or tell me what major airlines that fly non-stop to Laos??
