Lip-syncing by Lao singers at the 25th SEA games closing ceremony. We should follow China like the following news.

China pop stars face fine for lip-syncing

BEIJING — Two Chinese pop stars have become the first victims of a ban on the use of lip-syncing in concerts introduced last year following controversy over the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.

Starlets Yin Youcan and Fang Ziyuan resorted to miming during a concert they gave in September in the southwest province of Sichuan, the Beijing News reported Saturday.

It was the first case brought against lip-syncing performers since the authorities introduced the ban, the Beijing Youth Daily said.

The ministry for culture in August issued a regulation allowing for fines for singers who lip-synced, saying the practice "misled the public."

The two young singers will have to pay a total fine of 80,000 yuan (about 12,000 dollars), according to authorities quoted by the newspaper.

In 2008, the organisers of the Beijing Olympics caused controversy when it was revealed the young Chinese girl who sang at the opening ceremony had been miming.

They defended the move and triggered further uproar by saying the real singer was not pretty enough for a spectacle shown around the world.

No and no.  There're better things for Lao government to do than paying attentions to some singers.  If you don't like it then next time don't go to their concerts or listen to their music.

Well, I think It is not about the singers, but the manager of the music company.
They should announce that they are going to have a lip-syncing concert, so that they are not fooling around people who spend their money to listen to the sound from the DVD player.

I guess Lao people are smart enough to decide which concert to go, and which one should not go.

This is just a trivia matter.  Lao government has a bigger fish to fry like That Luang marsh land development to deal with.

Trivia matter can become a bigger problem in the future, it is just like a cancer.
If we are not ready and prepare for it, sooner or later, it will become a big problem.

I saw most of the singers around the world also lip-sing even Madona, Britney or Lady Gaga also lip-sing when they are at the concert.

How can you sing in good level voice and hard dance at the same time?

As long as the voice on the master tape is belong to her or him.

As an audience when attending a concert, I want to hear and see the real performance, not the fake one. I feel cheated and insulted if an artist just lips-sync.

I once watched Tik Princes perform at the recent Charity Concert. She was lip-syncing. She started to sing few words even though there was no vocal in the song. It's so embarrassing.

I agree with Lao-girl. I know, some singers are not ready to sing on a live concert or live performances. Like when the singers have cold or flu, they can't sing the songs at a good level.

Lady gaga? She sings live most of the time! She sounds better live actually. Unlike a lot of singers who sound horrible.

Vietnam I think is going to do the banning of lip-syncing also

Don't talk about deforestation as it is a senstive subject.  Only high government officials have enough power to break the law and do this.
