let compare Thailand and Vietnam economy growth and development . what Laos could learn from these countries.

My opinion Vietnam will be able to catch up with Thailand in 10 years . Perhaps vietnam will get ahead beyond catch up if Thailand still have the internal political problems which will pull Thailand economy back from get progress and scare away tourism and investors because of unstable government.

Yes it is very bad . Just like for example we have the income 3000 dollars and 2009 we earned 3210 dollar per year and the other have the income 100,000,000,000 dollars per year and then next they earn online 1% still 100,000,100,000 dollars still better than Laos.

YEah it's true that the Enonomic in Laos as the gold price rising up but most of Lao people still being the same poverty. The quality of life and public utility still behind or undeveloped.

Economy of Cambodia are still the same level with Laos but the Cambodian government has the plans to modernizing their country and in the progress of developing and training the Cambodian workers for the future jobs that would fit the industries .Laos are in the progress of building dams and planning of building Chinatown and hotel and resources and more casinos but don't hire and train Laotian and bring the Chinese and Vietnamese to work and live in Laos that is the different between the two countries. Laos is owned and run by the Chinese and Vietnamese. Laos might be more developed and better economy in the future but not for local Lao People. Lao people was poor and not well educated yesterday and is still poor and not well educated today and also will be poor and not well educated tomorrow . Laos people will be the minority of our own country and be a second class citizen in Laos. The Chinese and Vietnamese will be rich upper class and will be the boss and master in Laos.The future of the majority Laotian are only to farmers and none skill workers or cheap labors because every decisions have been made for them by the government. That is very clear as we all see. There is no future for the majority young Laotian in Laos that is the reason why hundred of thousand people from Laos are going to Thailand to work or to the first world countries to get better education and better jobs.

จากประสบการณ์ที่เคย ทำงานในลาว 3 ปี ได้รีบรู้ว่า คอรัปชั่น เยอะมาก เศรษฐกิจตัวเลขขยายขึ้นก็จริง แต่ประชาชนส่วนมากยังจนอยู่เหมือนเดิม คุณภาพชีวิต และสาธารณูปโภคยังล้าหลังอยู่เหมือนเดิม มีแต่คนระดับบนเท่านั้นที่รวยขึ้น รวยขึ้น แต่ประชาชนทั่วไปจนมากๆ อีกอย่างตอนนี้ระบบวัตถุนิยมเริ่มเข้าไปทำให้คนลาวเปลี่ยนไป วิถีการดำเนินชีวิตเปลี่ยนไป เด็กนักเรียนมัธยมเริ่มมีการลักลอบขายตัวเพื่อนำเงินมาซื้อมือถือ ซื้อเครื่องแต่งกายสวยๆ ซึ่งเมื่อก่อนสาวลาวจะแต่งตัวเรียบร้อยนุ่งผ้าซิ่นน่ารักมาก ตอนนี้ลองย้อนกลับไปผม สงสารเด็กพวกนี้มากเริ่มมีวิถีการดำเนินชีวิตตามชุมชนเมืองแถบบ้านเราขึ้นทุกขณะ โธ่ อนิจจา สุดท้ายก็พวกนักการเมืองเลวๆของลาวนั่นแหละ แดกกันชิบหาย

In many fields such health care , modern equipment , development and technologies , commercial ....etc because Vietnam just became WTO members and a lot of advance trade and technologies still are not been share by the free world and the US like south Korea and Japan and Germany and Singapore and the economy sanctions had just been stopped , not too long ago. But Vietnam is moving fast and still behind Thailand according the world business news report. I couldn't find the link but I had read news.

May be you are right, I'm not good in economic calculation but according to google the wealthiest countries in SE Asia are :

1. Singapore with $ 27.370 per capita
2. Malaysia $ 9.720
3. Thailand $ 7.930
4. Philippines $ 4.210
5. Indonesia $ 3.480
6. Vietnam $ 2.700
7. Cambodia $ 2.310
Laos, Myanmar and Timor Leste havn't been mentioned.

I don't know if Thailand is ahead of VN for 30 yrs. All I know is VN had just become WTO member not too long ago & they're moving fast economically. I'd say they'll catch up w/Thailand in just 10 short yrs. It took Thailand 50/60 yrs to get to where they are now. It certainly will not take VN that long to be modernized & civilized country. Also, one thing I know 4sure about VN, is that their defence dept. or should I say their military present is very strong so they can kick Thailand's ass anytime. They even kicked US & French's ass out of there.

Nothing to do with military . If you think Vietnam military strong is very good . What we are talking in this topic is about economy and development. Vietnam military is strong that is good because Vietnam watch out , are not the French , the American and Thailand but the Chinese. If that conflict ever happen again between the China and Vietnam this time that will be the lesson that Vietnam will never ever be forgotten because Chinese modern army , air force and navy are very strong today. By the way no body could ever defeat the united States in military .The reasons the United states got out from Vietnam and stopped the war because the American people didn't approved that war and it was not the American war. That war was between Vietnamese people . The American people are kind people and could stand to see the American soldiers to commit the crimes against the innocent Vietnamese that why million American protested and demonstrated and called their government to end the war.If Vietnam started the war , like the Japanese bombed the Pearl harbor or the Al Qaeda terrorist and I bet you Vietnam would be level to the ground may be worst than Hiroshima and Nagasaki and Berlin combine . Nobody could defeat US military but the American people because the US government is elected by the people and for the people and the people are ruling the country not only one group of people.

Thailand economy has been frozen since Thaksin was out of office and Vietnam economy is really grow fast matter of fact is the second fastest in Asia but it does not mean Vietnam is ahead of Thailand , Malaysia , Taiwan , south Korea and Singapore and India . Vietnam is in the progress of developing now and still is developing country . It should take Vietnam about 10 years to completed and catch up with Thailand in economy growth if Thailand will not be able to resolve their internal political problems.

More development and economy growth that are not only with new tall building, must including better welfare , health care , education ,pension fund,and better living condition of the people and jobs and their income. China has a lot more new and taller building than the United states but the China spend very little money on their people . Just north Korea spend on the money on nuclear and missile program and no money to medicine and food for the people.

Vietnam need to compete with the Philipines and Indonesia first as their economic there also very strong before you go to catch up with Thailand and Malaysia

Only few high buildings in Saigon and Hanoi does't mean your country will look like riches

And Vietnam need to improve to train these monkey on street how to drive motorbike in the right direction first. Not to driving on their own way. It's become a new root of traffic culture of Vietnamese already and it's hard to change

During Thaksin was in the office that was the truth that Thailand was more advantages and more ahead than Vietnam . Since The coup and the airport was shut down . a lot of the investors such as Japanese companies and the United States ans south Korea turned around and invest in Vietnam . There are more import to the United states and European Union from Vietnam ever. Thailand military coup has destroyed the Thailand economy and frozen the development so give the Vietnam a lot of opportunity to find more and investors who used to invest in Thailand. It won't take long for Thailand to destroy herself. Vietnam was destroyed and suffered by the war for many decades but Vietnam is on the way to recovery. Now Thailand is going to face the civil war and disaster which no one would like to see. Even Vietnam still hope not to see that happen because it would affect every body in the region.

It won't take long for Thailand to destroy herself. Vietnam was destroyed and suffered by the war for many decades but Vietnam is on the way to recovery. Now Thailand is going to face the civil war and disaster which no one would like to see. Even Vietnam still hope not to see that happen because it would affect every body in the region.
