hey all my Lao people i just want to remind all Lao American to fill out your consensus that you probably will be receiving in about a week.
i don't work for them or anything but i do know that our community has been wayy overlooked and i know there are more people out there that want our people to be heard. more people need to know about us and our community. by filling out the consensus and specifically stating that you are Lao will help our fellow people for sure help us have a voice here in the U.S.
its time for our people to come together and all you have to do is fill out the form and send it back. this will determine how much funding our communities get from the government. Wouldnt that be great to know that or people are being counted and recognized?

This consensus is so freaking damn discriminatory, why ? It did not ask anything of the white race like it did on the hispanic or the asian groups. Those caucasians also have their origin countries too...and they get federal aid too. Crap !!!

Yeahh you right, the questions really seem to be discriminated. But your answers are very important to the Census. Why ? Because the results are used to decide the number of representatives each state has in the congress. The amount of the government money your neighborhood receives also depends on these answers. That money is used for services for children and elderly,roads, and many other local needs..
The reason they ask for you to write "Laotian" on the form is so that the Lao / American population can recieve more and better services such as. ..

Education regarding Lao heritage for young students so that they can be proud of where their granparents came from.
Maybe translated voting information.

Yes, totally agree on that. But, the problem is: the American Systems around the Country, they're Classifying Lao and Thai languages as the same. if there's lao language in your area that there's no thai, if there's thai language, there's no lao. believe me Bro, i have gone to the major hospitals or some of the biggest Immigrations. i have seen it and read it my own.. and i don't have any problem with that either..
