hi my friend can anybody help me setup this problem and solve I'm stunk

Steel α = 6.5 x 10-6/°F, or 11.7 x 10-6/°C

Room Temperature: use Standard Condition

1) A 4-inch square steel block has a 2-inch diameter hole bored in the center of it. Express your answers to the nearest ten-thousandth inch.

  • a) How much will the edge length of the block increase if the temperature of the block rises by 100°F?

  • b) How much will the diameter of the hole increase if the temperature of the block rises by 100°F?

thank youkean

pfffff! when american will give up those totaly outdated stupid and unusable units ( °F, inchs and feet, miles, galons....)?

The decimal metric system have been created many centuries ago, and is much more modern and convenient

Easy Easy, Brother Paris Vientiane.. this is how we do and caculate our mathematics. Don't you know we have a problem to when we go to other country and convert our matric-system to that country...

of course, that's a question of habbits.. but decimal system is used in most of the world and si so much more logical (each sub-unit is 10 time less/more than the "bigger/smaller" one, this facilitate a lot calculations)

The whole world used the same Systems accept U.S.A. we the only country that used matric-system.. If change , we have to change the whole education systems.. that's not very easy for us.. it is not like a smoking habbit or Alcohol addiction.. you know what i'm saying bro... so i prefer leave it this way...555.

        I need help to solve this eqution

w = \frac{p}{
ho} =  \frac{
ho_mC^2}{
ho_mc^2} = \frac{C^2}{c^2}\approx 0

The metric system would make it too easy for American students to calcultate their mathematic problemsbiggrinbiggrin. BTW, I thought we took this sytem from England and with our own modifications(?). i know US gallon and Brit gallon aren't the same, right?
