My best Lao leader would be Chao Anouvong. When Siam invaded Phainam and burned down the town, His military was weak back then, he fled to Vietnam and studied the military skill. He returned to Lanxang with the help of Vietnamese soldiers. He deployed his soldiers to Korat to get all the Lao ( pai fa rasdone ) that had been swept away by Siam soldiers among other things, equiptments, bhudda etc. but too bad he lost his war and eventually his life. Every time I visited Kong Sansaeb in Bangkok, my eyes were watering wet. My second Lao leader is Chao Souphanouvong. Real time, Real deal. Real leader.
My first would be chao Fah Ngoum because he is a conquering king, i remember reading if it not were his generals asking him to stop his conquest he would have kept on taking more and more land. what a great hero for the lao people. i will always respect chao fah ngoum i wish we had more leaders like him.
second chao sethitarath sorry for the spelling but he was the king/hero in charge when lao was at its peak. he was in charge when Lao Lanxang was the biggest kingdom in southeast asia. ( perhaps maybe burma but not too familiar with burmeses history) no one could mess with us when we were united.
third i would have to say my honorable hero chao anouvong i wish i could read more about him but havnt seen many books about his times. but if any one had more information i would love to read them. any way he alone brought fear to the saimese kingdom from gathering a bunch of scattered Lao after the kingdom had broken down. he had courage ambition rivaling the great leaders of the Lao world. if only he had all the people behind him his dreams would have been realized. but i know his dream lives on in every Lao and i know in me this ambition burns bright. he wanted to unite Lao people once again.
fourth i would chose chao Souphanouvong the red prince he transformed lao and gave us a second chance i believe. he really should be more studied in history and what sacrifices he made for he country.
present times i would have to say bousan bouphavanh he is the man economics is the new mechinism of power. he is leading lao in the right direction, he is a very admirable man.

I don't get why some still grudge me. I'm only seeing pass being Lao in my own opinion and attitude. But some members seem to take it personally from the past and now.

First of all Souphanouvong never been the leader. He was just a political figure behind Kisone. Kisone was the real leader after 1975, and for the real Laos leaders would be Chao Fah Ngum, Chao Anou, Chao Saysethathirath.

In history: - King Fangum, he unified lanexang to be one great nation. - Chao Lane Khamdeng who's defeated Anam troops at Meuinna district in Luang Prabang during King Sayachakkaphath and Vietnam conflict. - King Sayasethathirath who's built Vienyiane as Lanexang capital, That Luang and ho Prakeo. He was a great king. - King Anouvong, Great lao King ever who taught Siam good lessons before he captured by ( kaboth Chao Noy Muong Phouan ) then sent him to Siam king in Bangkok.

Strange! I came from Savannakhet and never heard of a king once resided in Maung Xepone. I've heard there was a praya named Sumungkara from a song, but I don't know the extent of this person and why he's there at first place. Can anyone elaborate on this?

You guys got to give a credit to MR. KISONE PHOMVIHAN. In the new era uncle Kisone Phomvihan was a real truly leader for many lao peoples. Without him Laos wouldn't be standing til this day. Just think about it. You all lao nok . He's the one who created all the chaos, war, and peace. A true leader has to sacrafice even though killing his own peoples to become independent from rulers, and the anarchy. Without him and his 7 comrades there won't be no LAO NOK. It's just gonna be the comrade lao nai in Laos.
