One of Asia's poorest nations is being pulled out of poverty thanks to its natural resources. Laos is continuing to experienced positive economic growth because of a rising production of copper, gold, and silver as well as hydro-power. But the pace and scale of foreign investment in Laos is worrying some development partners, who say the country has not yet established proper mechanisms to monitor foreign companies.
what would you like to say??
i think the govt is happy with the copper, gold ,silver and other national resources which influences Laos's economic growth, i am quite worried if those national resources or those mining are scarce or destroyed ?
I do agree with this! I donot want our government relies on mining because one day the natural resources will finish.
Maybe Lao gov should learn from Australian gov 'super-profit tax' in order to increase income and accumulate the $$$$ for young generations who will born in next 50 or 100 years laterm so they can share this benefits from natural resources.
Hidropower is very good but forestry must be maintained in order to producing more water to generate power from dam's turbines.
Other thing, our gov should find the sustainable ways to lift up country's income, and avaoid and strong approach withecono-me (or corruption)
