Well, you have to look at how far and beyond about robot technology advancement since its hey day. Imagine having a robot taking care elders or lonely people. Japanese people have a lot of elders and many Japanese also live alone.
Oh I'm not against it at all if that's what you're thinking haha. I understand that in Japan they are all about "inventing the newest thing". I believe they could make something very useful out of this... but just this certain robot singer creeped me out a little.
