The UN's latest human development reports ranks Laos among the world's top 10 movers, as incomes continue to rise for both the country and its people.
The united Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched its 2010 human development report earlier this month, ranking Laos in sixth place of the world's top 10 countries that have achieved success in human development over the past 40 years.
Other countries on the list, include Oman, China, Nepal, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, South Korea, Algeria and Morocco.
Economic growth has been robust over the past five years due to an increase in foreign investment, in particular in the areas of mining and hydropower. The increase in foreign investment has injected a large amount of funding into Laos, creating jobs and income for Lao people
