DPM calls for faster rollout of Mekong-US projects

(VientianeTimes) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Thongloun Sisoulith has urged Mekong region countries and the United States to speed up implementation of various agreements approved by the two parties in recent years.
Dr Thongloun was speaking on October 30 at an informal working breakfast in Hanoi, Vietnam, held on the sidelines of the 17th Asean Summit.
(Vientiane Times) Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) ministers have endorsed several important documents as a part of a plan for better cooperation in the sub-region in the future.
The agreements were reached at the 16th GMS Ministerial Meeting held in Hanoi last week after the GMS senior officials' meeting with development partners on August 19.
The 16th Mekong River Commission (MRC) Council Meeting was held in Hua Hin, Thailand during 26 – 27 November 2009, the Meeting was chaired by H.E.Mr. Suwit Khunkitti, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand, Chairman of Thai National Mekong Committee , Chairman of the MRC Council for 2009/2010, the Meeting was attended by the delegations from four member countries of Mekong River Commission (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, and Viet Nam) , the Lao delegation attended the Meeting was led by H.E.
