Yes , there are silver bullets ( Brain and mind , science and economy ) . Just look at south Korea and Singapore for example . It took Singapore and south Korea only few decades (not century ) after the war to transform their countries from the poverty to the most modern countries in the world unlike North Korea and Cuba which might take centuries or more but Laos won't have to be that way.

The system and the leader are really make a big different like North Korea and south Korea between the dictator and elected government.

Could Laos escape Poverty by 2020 ??? I'd say yeahhh there's possibility, Laos can '' graduate'' out of her impoverished status within ten years if they benefit from better targeted development aid, duty, and quota free access for exports and doubled farm productivity and school enrolment, These are International standard set out by United Nation in late 60 and early 70. so far only three have graduated since then, Botswana in 1994, Cape Verde in 2007, and Maldives earlier this year. and this is the time for global solidarity to achieve progress even in the poorest countries of the world, which will go along way in advancing global prosperity and security. and Laos can break out of the decades long poverty trap, depending on determined national action and International support... Given that all together there are more than 50 countries around the world that least development(LDC) and Laos is still one of them. a couple month ago, I read a Forbes magazine about global econoics, and the report shows upward progress in category after category of economic and human well being indicators by developed and dynamic developing countries, While least develop countries(LDC) are close to flat lining. Pointing to the high incidence of the conflicts in countries with extrem povertyand weak institutions... So as for our ''Laos'' , PDR's primary policy goal is to streghten its own economy and develop its own mean to earn foreign exchange, Much of its population is involved in a subsistance economy, in which families produced by themself what is needed for a daily basic living. Laos major disadvantage has been that it is landlocked nation with weak influstructure. Nearly 80 percent of the country is mountainous and / or Forested with only 20 something percent of land cultivable and less then 10 percent actually cultivated. Laos perhaps has the highest ratio of forest cover to the land area in all asia..... But over all, I really do think our country'' Laos'' will get out of the poverty list by 2020...

South Korea and Singapor they learn from America and British but Laos learning from Vietnam!

Sorry but Laos seem to learn nothing from Vietnam. Don't blame Vietnam for your incompetence. Why don't you just admit that Laos is under-developed because Laotians are lazy . I see that Laos people like to find reasons and excuses to explain why they are poor instead of learning from other countries.

Lao people had never been starved to death . What you are talking that is the war and struggle of the power and did not allow foreigner specially the wester to help. At that time was the iron curtain of Soviet empire which caused Lao people might be hungry and poor with hard lives but never starved to death . Now the Soviet empire collapsed and the Berlin wall was torn down. And the truth that the Chinese, Indian , North Korean and African were really the reality of the starvation which millions of people were starved to death.
What the news have been talking about North Korea children and people have been starving to death and will be starving to death on the coming month that is not 20 people or 200 people or 2,000 thousand people . What they are talking about 20 millions people that is three times of the Lao population will be starved to death . Could you imagine that three times of Lao population will be starved to death that is the reality that Kim Jong iL would have to face and ask for help from the world community and has to give up his nuclear weapon unless he has no heart and nor compassion for his own people.

First, I must finish the university and get my degree and then get a job and experience and be successful before I Could do any thing.
College degree is for a woosh. You don't need a degree to have experience. The real world will teach you that. I finished college and learned nothing.
Ok , wiseguy . Go get a job with minimum wage of none skill worker and get experience of heavy lifting and clean up the toilet or what so ever that you please.
