Why do Laos PDR new Historians skipped writing about King Sayachakkaphath Phenpheo and Chao Lane Khamdeng?

Why do Lao people see only King Anouvong was their great king, even he's lost war to the Siamese and couldn't save Lane Xang to fall in Siamese slavery?

Why all new Lao PDR people didn't see any of Chao Lane Khamdeng had has done to Lane Xang?  He's victor and defeated the enemies to save the Capital and Lane Xang people not to fall in the enemies hands.

There are most of young high school kids in Laos who were born after 75's don't know a super Hero name CHAO LANE KHAMDENG in Lane Xang history. Chao Lane Khamdeng was a great fighter than King Anouvong, he defeated Anam and save Lane Xang capital, Luang Prabang, after the enemies burned it down and took control not even a month. King Anouvong was a great fighter also but he couldn't save the capital city like Chao Lane Khamdeng.

No one couldn't change the history.

You can't compare Chao Khamdeng to Chao Anou.  Two different eras.  Chao Anou was born when Laos was already divided.

Chao Anouvong was a great King, because he fought to unite the Lao people of Lan Xang. He fought the Siamese race of Ayuthaya. Siamese wants to convert Khmer,Lao Lan Xang, and Lao Lanna into Siamese race.

He died a horific death to save his people.  His downfall was not the Siamese, but the Lao of Isan betrayed him.

Just like how Lao Isan betray Lao refugees during the Vietnam war.

It was not the Lao of Esarn that betray Jao Anou.  Yes, they played a part.  The one who really betrayed Jao Anou was Jao Luang Prabang and Jao Noi Muang Puan.

Jao Luang Prabang told Rama III...

The war of 1828 with Siam was devasting for us Lao. The ripples of that war is still felt today. Given the adavantages that Siam had, it's suprising the war lasted long as it did. Lets look at some of the advantages Siam had:

1. Modern Arms

2. Well trained and funded Arm Force

3. A large arm force

4. Western Mercenaries

The outcome of that war was not because of one individual. There are many factors to consider.

1.Chao Anouvong was caught off guard when the Siamese started their campaign during the rainny season. He was hoping they would wait till after the rainny season, so he would have enough time to prepare. But the King of Siam(Rama 2?) was affraid that if he waited the fire of rebellion would spread to other kingdoms.

2. The Chao muang of Khorat had already been whispering to the Siamese king's ears. This Chao muang saw himself as a equal to the Lao kings. And would do anything to get ahead.

3. The Siamese general Bowdin was known for his cruelty and his cunning. To kill two birds with one stone. He spread a rumour that Chao Noi of Muang Puan had betrayed Chao Anou. Chao Noi was Chao Anouvong's brother in law. By spreading this rumour, it not only did it created animosity between the royal houses. But also Lao against Lao.

4. It's interesting that the King of Luang Phrabang keep all his letters from Chao Anouvong. And that up to his death, the Siamese could not force a word out of him about Chao Anou's. The Lao of Luang Phrabang may have a different accent to their cousins in ViengChan and Champassak. But the distaste for the Siamese was the same.

The many factors that contributed to the outcome of that is countless....pointing fingers at each other is only proving how effective Gen. Bowdin's posion was. Chao Anouvong's campaign may ended in tragedy. But it created a hero for our Lao race to believe in. Chao Anouvong, Chao Ratsavong, Chao Phetsarath........(list are endless) these men whose life may end in tragedy. But they show their enemies that we Lao will not stand down to anyone.

I would have to disagree with all  of your points.

1) There was no such thing as Modern Arms in the 1800s.  The guns in the 1800s was not effective like the guns we see today.

2) The Siamese was not as well trained like we are led to believe.

3) The Siamese numbers was not a big factor at first.

4)  Western Mercenaries played little role in the war.

The biggest factor that determined the outcome of the war with the Siamese was INTELLIGENCE.  The Siamese were well prepared once they knew Chao Anou was planning to attack them.

There were many Chao during the time of Chao Anou.  There were Chao Luang Prabang, Chao Xieng Khuan, Chao Champasak.  All these Chao were more or less against Chao Anou.    You cannot win a war if your people are not united.

In order to fight an effective war, you need absolute power.

Let's take a look as the most successful ruler and conqueror of all time, Ghengis Khan. Why was he so successful?  He was so successful because he had absolute power.  He made sure all the other Mongol rulers took orders from him.  And if they didn't, he would kill them.

Now if Chao Anou had consolidated his power, he would have defeated the Siamese.  6

Where did you get this Lane Xang history?

An old original Lane Xang history were told like this before the war between Lane Xang and Vietnam were broke out:

The villagers caught a white elephant ( Xang Phueirk ) in the deep jungle then they brought it to be gift for the King ( King Sayachakkaphath Phenpheo ). The news of this white elephant went though all over the region. The Vietnamese King want to see this white elephant hairs then he sent his representative to visit Lane Xang king. King Sayachakkaphath sent his respond back to Vietnam King with the white elephant hairs in a box  and gave to those Vietnamese king's representatives to bring to their king.  On the way to Vietnam, a leader of that team exchanged elephant poop in that white elephant hairs instead because he wants to keep the white elephant hair for himself. After Vietnamese king saw elephant poop in that box he was very angry then he brought Thirty Thousand troops came and stumped Luang-Prabang. King Sayachakkaphath lost the battle to the Vietnamese troops with wounded in the battle field then he fled Nane province.  Luang-Prabang were burned down to the ground after the Vietnamese took control.

Chao Lane Khamdeng won't gave up to fight the enemies, he was lead of Lane Xang troops after his uncle, King sayachakkaphath, were wounded and fled to Nane.  Chao Lane Khamdeng made the excellent battle plan to defeat the enemies Vietnamese by cutting off the outside foods, medicines and weapons supplies lines. Without foods, medicines and the weapons that cause lack of healthy soldiers, there was thousand and thousand Vietnamese troops died by hungry and illness. Chao Lane Khamdeng defeated the Vietnamese troops and killed them all, non of any single Vietnamese couldn't return to Vietnam.
