BY MALIA ZIMMERMAN -Bouala Phommachanh, 55, agreed to leave his wife and five children behind in the fall of 2005 to take a farming job in Hawaii after a recruiter visited his home in the Loas capitol of Vientiane.

Not only the the poor would like to work and live in the United Sates but the Ric Chinese , Arab and the people from every where want to come and live in the United States even the are aware of this kind of this accident , gang ..etc. the United States is not a perfect country but it the land of the opportunity for every body who have the wonderful and would to pursue their dream and make it to come true. Some their will come true and some just keep dreaming . America don't have the culture but Hollywood , it is the young country ( only 300 years old). So any thing is possible in Hollywood successful or failure. Brain and mind .

kenno, and MALIA ZIMMERMAN thanks for sharing. I really think people should look into the U.S. meat packing companies. If we think this Hawaii story is heart breaking and inhumane, we're prabably wrong. I've always wanted to do documentary on America's Modern Slavery, yes, the meat packing industries! Imagine a person curving pork out of a big whole pig leg in every 3-5 seconds for 8-12 hours 6-7 days a week in a freezer room temperature. No health care for 6 months. No work if you complain of pain or any level of injuries. The company is backed by the town and even the district! These companies bride and even give cars out to town officials. They will intimidate and find ways to scare you if you open your mouth! Prosecution and legal actions are very slim and winning it is small because they just want to make it look fair.
1LB of meat would be like $50 without the Laotians, Mexicans, Burmanese, and other minorities. We are so blind and aro-thick headed.
IN AMERICA WE TALK ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS IN ANOTHER COUNTRY. BLIND! LOOK AT TYSON, NATIONAL BEEF, SARA LEE, AND MANY OTHERS!
