Well my view of laos of what i seen on my family side is...All or most drop out of school, leeching off mommy and daddy, drinking beer all day, no job, making babies, no money, HAPPY.
Thai - competition with each other, need more education to get better job, work hard for a better life, too much drama, tend to stay away from poor people or beggers.
Overrall - Laos needs to teach the young kids, education is important and the LRPD needs to help its people, instead of letting trash into the country and make laos a whore countries for tourist. ^^
I dont think school education make people to be really good or smart. I think everyday Thai people in some high education area likes smart mouth but not smart mind. They dont like me when I was telling the truth. Maybe it is because of economy. Someone said people who tell the truth cannot live in large city.
Many school and university education I had seen from Thailand is only the following of western nations, although I was from faculty of science which they need originality in scientific projects they did not like originality on scientific questions. Few ones have seen this point that Thailand is too much being the followers of western nations and nowadays Thai people from high education doesn't really think with rational mind or scientific mind, but, on the other side the thinking which is really good for the country can be found in religion community. That's my view from being a Thai student in science.
The main issue of Lao people is Laos is under developing country, of course they will be the target of the eyes of the people in developed country like Thailand will look down on them. But, inside the real life of people are living in Laos having more freedom than people in Thailand.
Lao people are always thinking that Thai people used to be relatives or people came from the same roots of families and had been the same nation from Mongolia to Tibet, from Tibet to south of the Mekong and Chaopraya rivers.
Thai people are always look down on Lao people, especially Thai Esarn people ( Lao people in Esarn ). Lao people in central and Northern of Thailand are very nice people, they aren't look down on any Lao people in PDR or any side of the world.
If France not come to Indochina, Laos will be East part of Thailand and Laos and Thailand will be same country by now.

When I went to laos, all i see was teenagers Drop out,drinking beer,playing all day,having have sex with 10-12yrs girls, Heck I even met this Pimp who has a GF and still pimp'n out other girls. Dude THAT is LAOS. Then u got Tuk Tuk drivers, taking tourist to WHORE HOUSES? Come on that is LAOS.
Same thing goes for Thai people, Dam Taxi asking me to go have sex with young 18+ girls.

Dude maybe you should just keep that to yourself? There will always be a negative side of every national and people. I'm not sure why you think all Lao people are like what you mention. Not all Lao are the same. Maybe from what you experience or been around these kind of negative people that you know quite well about them, but not the other.
Also you sound like a narrow minded person who seem to only stay in your own box. You just need to get over it with your **** dude.
The Fact here is Both countries are small and fighting among themselves for sex tourist and dependent upon TOURIST. While the chinese people are growing bigger, and bigger buying out technology and growing in other people countries. Couple days ago, the chinese bought one of hawker beech Aircraft from the USA. Though u guys may not understand it and care. Its a big deal, jobs could be lost, china has the ability to control the workforce.
It's a major deal, the USA is what regulates the Aircraft industries. Chinese are known for making cheap parts and whatever works. Besides losing job and chinese taking over. How many people would die, and would it be safe to fly. Any small alteration or not approve hidden parts, can make the planes go bad. While u guys living in the past fighting among yourself about laos and thai views?
There more important things going on around the world. Iraq people killing themselves because of religions, Chinese are growing and invading, Japanese sex industries still strong...LOL, India Growing in the telecom business, The germens building a Bank in Laos (prepare to be taking over). You guys should be worried about people taking over your country, instead of thinking about the rivals between Thai and Laos.
LAOS, I'M A SHAME OF IT WHEN I WENT THERE....YOU LET THESE TOURIST RUN U DOWN AND MAKE IT TRASH. I really wanted to punch every tourist I meet, cause they were rude and ****y.

Lao is Lao. We don't need to look up to Thai for our image. You don't see Thai people screaming out that they are our brother or sister do you? NO! You only see short sighted Lao who scream about we are brother ans sister! The Thai don't care and why should Lao person like you care to lick there smelly holes? The people are not called Lao. It's Laotian. I don't know where you're from, but where I'm at there are lots of Laotians who are attending Ivy League Universities. My parents are always on me about education.
I am from the US and my father is from the UK (no Laotian descent). I lived in Thailand for three years and just moved to Laos. I speak Thai to a pretty high level and am just starting to learn Lao (it's easy because it's so similar to Thai).
I can promise you, when people think of Laos in my country, in general they respect the country and people a lot and feel bad about the Vietnam War and the bombs dropped. Laos is known in the world as a country with a lot of culture and while it is poor, because it has an old culture we respect Laos.
Thailand on the other hand, is known as the ****hole and whorehouse of the world. For some reason Thai people think they are better than other cultures but in reality, Thailand is known as a very immoral and corrupt country all over the world.
Laos people should not look up to Thai people in my opinion as in general they are garbage people. Sure, they might have a more developed country, but it is not very developed, it's just a lot of crap shopping malls. And how did Thailand become more developed? By becoming the sex capital of the world and selling out to everyone, being the country known for having no rules and no culture.
I would hate Laos to become like Thailand. Laos is a beautiful country.
