Come on WTF, I'm force to pay you baggages and security check point money? If i don't then you will harrass my family and delay my time out of the airport. This is one of the reasone why I dont' wanna go back and visit again.
I need to write to the laos goverment and send them a letter to hand to the Airport. So they won't scam me out of money and harrassment.

I heard a few people complaining about some officiers who stamped the passports at the arrival tried to milk Laonorks for money. But me and several of my relatives went back many times and never encountered such problems.

There are not a lot of people at Wattay airport begging to carry your bags. I saw one or two nice Lao politely asking us whether we needed help. You can politely say Yes or No. No big deal. If someone helps you, give him a generous tip. It would help him and his family.
Just outside the arrival area, we usually saw many Lao people with smiling face looking at us. At one time, we landed from Bangkok with other visitors and were greeted with some Khaen players and dancers. It was very welcoming. Some of them may look bannork to you but they surely did not show any sign of uneducated manner. On the contrary!
I never heard of someone who died a few months after returning from Laos.

I don`t know your circumstances, But how come i have no problem at all when i was hom? so how many bagges did you have it with you ? you didn't say the whole either. so please get more on detail ?
There's so many times I went to visit Laos, my first trip was 1991 and I wasn't became to be American citizen yet during that time, I went to Laos with my permanent resident passport. At Wattai Airport, I received warm welcome from Airport staffs. My 2 hands dragged my suitcases, and my backpack was on my back, I walked to check point and saw two guys in police uniform came to me and offer to help me carry my suitcases nicely but I confused them and they just walked away from me with out any insident. Since 1991 till now I went to Laos every other years and didn't see any scammer came to me and forced me to pay money for baggages and security check point money. I found all good people around me and they was very nice to me whenever I asked them for help.

I've seen this happen many times. Getting scammed in Laos is very easy, doesn't matter if you're dumb or smart, they don't care. What can you do when a corrupt official wants money from you or else he threatens to cause you trouble? There are no laws in Laos so how are you going to protect yourself when even the police are corrupt. You basically have to pay them off, that's the rules. Everything is about money there. They don't care if you're a serial killer coming into their country, as long as you pay the visa fee to get into the country $42 bucks or something, then they let you in. All you have to do is pay your way through. Money is higher than people there, learn this lesson and you will have no problems again.
