Commie gov't in Laos thinks this website will help promote them in a good way to the rest of the world.
Actually, it's doing the opposite, it gives a chance for everyone, including Lao people living in Laos to see what is really going on because the opinions and information that is posted are showing all the faults of the commie gov't and Lao nork are educating Lao nai on many topics whether they realize it or not. Just about every topic here has an argument going on. The truth is coming out and everyone can see what is right and what is wrong. Lao nai are not afraid to speak out about the stupid commie gov't and the wrong that is happening in Laos everyday because of the annonymity of the web. The access to information and opinion can change a country, look at China, people posting on web boards have brought down corrupt officials and have changed political policies.
I post on this web so that Lao people who don't understand about human rights and freedom can see how other people in civilized countries live and what we value versus how it is in Laos and they can start to think for themselves if they want to make a change. There is a price though just like Sombath found out but all it takes is a spark to ignite a fire. One day at a time.
