 It can but it is hard. The record set by Shoaib Akhtar in 161.3 km/h has been there for more than 20 years. Up to date bowlers such as Umran Malik or Lockie Ferguson are quick, although not enough to reach that number. The only requirement to break the record is a perfect physical condition, technique, good pitch and weather conditions. It is also associated with risks of injury because too much speed exert a lot of pressure on the body. Although technology and training keep on enhancing, there is always a significant problem in competing with the speed of Akhtar.
