Both treatments show aesthetic changes. But if you want faster visible fading, the answer usually leans one way.
Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) is proven to show quicker visible results, especially for redness, rosacea, or superficial blood vessels. It specifically targets haemoglobin or red pigment, so you often see improvement after fewer sessions. However, a little improvement is noticed even after the first treatment.
On the flip side, Nd:YAG lasers penetrate deeper into the skin. It works better to treat larger or deeper vessels. But over time, it removes the smooth pink or red patch. It may require fewer sessions for certain conditions. But the redness does not always fade as immediately as in the case of PDL.
Some clinical comparisons show interesting results. Both lasers can show desired results over time and patients see no major difference in overall reduction of redness in some cases.
Simply put, if you want faster and visible fading, PDL is ideally fit. And Nd:YAG is excellent to treat deeper vessels or thicker skin issues.
But you cannot be the selector, as a dermatologist often combines both treatments for optimal results within a short span, and the skin condition would get better together.
