Ancient Art of the Laotian people. --have started an art form of combat. --"Mouay Lai Lao" a form of very strong boxing style. --also a form of boxing that shows the boxer's artful body stance. --"Mouay Lai Lao" started from ancient boxing style "Mouay Tunk" which is also called "Muay Sieua Lark Hang" Tiger dragging tail and has been passed down from generation to generation by exhibitions at various festivals such as Rocket Festival "Boun Bunk Fai". --The boxer is usually a direct practitioner of the art of "Muay Sieua Lark Hang" or "Mouay Lai Lao" --exhibiting this martial arts fluid and graceful movements, but each movement is performed with strength designed to take down or dispose of the opponent. --It has many "death techniques" such as "Harng Sieu Sabat" Tiger's Death Tail. --Currently sportsmen and "Muay Lai Lao" instructors have promoted and improved the style's artfulness and fuidity. --but for the combatants "Muay Lai Lao" remains a style that's deadly and should not be taken lightly. --from "Mouay Lai Lao" a story by a Lao reporter

HI
What is Muay Thai you might ask? To the world's Martial Arts
community it is referred to as the Art of the 8 limbs, as the
hands, elbows, knees, and feet are all used extensively in this
Art. On the other hand, "What is Muay Lao? I've never heard of
it. Muay Lao is the Martial Arts of Laos. It is very similar to
Muay Thai, but utilizes more points of contact. It is less known
and unrecognized than Muay Thai, but just as effectiveconfuse

Hi,
I'm lao, i know, Today, Muay Lao, Muay Thai, Bradal Serey, and Burmese boxing (Lethwei or Lethawae) are quite similar. The cultures of these countries are also quite similar, with the people following Theravada Buddhism, which originated in India and then Sri Lanka and Cambodia.

Hello,
I know Muay Lao and Takraw (Sepak Takraw) are popular in Laos:
Martial arts are also practiced in Laos, with Muay Lao (similar to Muay Thai) being popular. There are debates over which came first between Muay Lao and Muay Thai.

Takraw (Sepak Takraw) is a popular traditional sport. This game involves two teams of three players hitting a rattan ball over a volleyball net without using their hands. Similar to volleyball, scores go up to 21 points. Sepak Takraw is a popular sport in Southeast Asia.  Laotian teams enter regional competitions such as the King’s Cup.

A recreational version of takraw involves players standing in a circle and trying to keep the ball in the air without using their hands (similar to hackysack).

 Hello,
IN a move to prepare young boxers for the next Lao
National Games to be hosted by Vientiane in two year's
time, the Vientiane Municipality Boxing Federation (VBF)
recently opened a boxing training centre at the Vientiane
Municipality Sports Office in Boung Kha Nyong village.
According to the centre's French boxing trainer
Philippe Carriere, the centre is open to all youngsters
aged 6 to 16 who are interested in learning international-
style boxing, Lao-style boxing (Muay Lai Lao) and
Taekwondo. The monthly fee of 2000 kip for each student is
intended to cover the cost of electricity at the centre.
Training sessions for new boxers take place every
morning from 6:00am to 8:00am and in the evenings from
5:00pm to 8:00pm. So far, since the centre opened April 20
over 100 boxers have participated in basic boxing training
sessions taught by one Lao coach and two foreign
instructors. Every Friday evening at Thadeua village in
Hadsayfong, international-style boxing competitions are
being held to select the best boxers to participate in
Laos' Sixth National Games slated for the year 2000.

Muay Lao or Lay Lao is not easy to practicing or learning. Ly Lao is more powerful of martial art in the world. In the past ( last 50 years before ) Lay Lao killed a top rank of Thai boxer in Chang Wat Nan ( Nan province of Thailand ). Since that time the Laos Government was not allowed Lay Lao fighter fight with any Muay Thai boxer either in Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Burma.
