A Laos television channel will make its debut on May 28 by screening a series of documentary films on Vietnam and Lao-Vietnamese relations.  

The channel will be the fourth to hit the airwaves under the Lao Star Channel network, a private satellite television station that was brought into being by the Lao National Television Station and the Lao culture and arts preservation group at the end of last year.  

The films, provided by the Lao National Archive and Video Centre, focus on the Vietnamese people, culture and country and the Laos-Vietnam relationship.  

The debut is being timed to coincide with the 30^th anniversary of the Laos-Vietnam Friendly and Comprehensive Co-operation Treaty and the 45^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.  

Earlier, the Lao Central Front for National Construction (LCFNC) held discussions geared to enhancing ties between Laos and Vietnam. 

The dialogue also looked to honour the 45^th anniversary of the Lao-Vietnam diplomatic ties (May 9, 1962 - 2007) and the 30^th anniversary of the signing of the Lao-Vietnam Friendship and Co-operation Treaty (July 18, 1977 - 2007). 

Speaking at the discussion, Tongyeuthor, a member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and LCFNC Vice President, reviewed the historically strong relationship the two bordering countries share.  

In other news, authorities from the provinces of Luang Phrabang and Phongsaly in northern Laos ran a seminar on the life and political career of Vietnam's late President Ho Chi Minh in order to mark his 117^th birthday. 

A focus of the seminar dealt with the friendship that developed between President Ho Chi Minh and Laos President Kaysone Phomvihan. (VNA)
