This is a Horses grazing, Plain of Jars. Near Site 2. The Plain of Jars was the scene of intense ground combat and heavy bombing during the Indochina War. It has also been the site of other ground battles over the last 150 years. Virtually every town and village in Xiengkhoung province was bombed at some point between 1964 and 1973. By the end of the 1960s the Plain of Jars was undergoing almost daily bombing by American planes. Many small towns and villages were erased from the map permanently.
