Work on water park to finish next month

The Malaysian Pro-Sport Company is rushing to complete the construction of a brand new Water Fun Park in Vientiane.

The project coordinator, Mr Phetnakhone Phasavath, said yesterday that work on the theme park in the Nongchan area on Khouvieng road, Sisattanak district is about 95 percent finished.

Most of the main structures and the installation of straight slides are complete, and engineers are now preparing to install the bendy slides.

He said the entrance gate is also being built and he expects the park to be ready to open next month, with 11 fun waterslides for the enjoyment of the public.

Mr Phetnakhone said the government authorities were carrying out daily checks on the project to ensure the work is finished on schedule.

The company had planned an unofficial opening for a small completed section earlier in the year, but decided to delay opening to the public until everything in the park was finished.

According to last year's memorandum of understanding between the Malaysian investor and the government, the two-phase 45.8 billion kip (US$4.8 million) project, which began construction in January, is set to be finished within 30 months.

The nearly complete first p hase will enable people to start using the waterslides and swimming pool as well as restaurants, a souvenir shop and coffee shop. There will also be water features, a first aid stand, a large carpark, and jogging and cycling tracks.

The second phase will include a landscaped public park with large trees, and an area for outdoor activities such as basketball, badminton and volleyball.

The park will contain a recreation area for Vientiane residents and visitors, on a site that was previously a Danish-funded natural park, wetlands preserve and water reservoir.

This investor has a 30-year concession on the land to generate a profit from the Water Park .

i would like to know more about this project.

it's near the center of vientiane , right? behind morning market?

Wow! i didn't imagine they could do it so fast... i thought it was a long term project.

This mean i can maybe visit this aquatic park.... giant swiming pool during my future holidays, next janary? Great!

Anyone have more information about this project?

I think this is a very good project :
- develop Laos
- attract tourist
- refresh yourself when it's too hot
- Have a lot of fun
- do exercise and loose fat
That's great!

the only worrying points are
- water? this park won't consume too much water during dry season?
- trafic jams and transportation. Any bus to go there? Enough car and motorbike parkings lots for now and the future? no risk of trafic jams around the park?

What about the entry fees?
