I lived in Europe,

I'm proud of Lao Nai people : they are proud of their Silk sinhs, their fashions of wearing, they don't need kind of DIOR , Yves St Laurent and so...

They don't want to eat hamburgers and Coke, they have khao new, cheobong, padek, that's allright !

Lao Nai peole love only Laos and are proud to be Lao.

Lao Nork people love the countries where they live and probably some still love Laos. Unfortunately, some Lao Nork people hate Laos and try to look down Laos and Lao Nai people. Some even try to make war in Laos (Vang Pao as example).

hon hon, wrong ! we now prefer EURO or thai baht. USD becomes weaker vs euro, if irak war continues the USD will continue to be weaker and weaker but in the contrary the thai baht becomes stronger vs lao kip...

Lao Nork = Work hard, make decent living, and love their children.

Husband and Wife working hard for their money to support the family. They want to provide the things they can not have themselves when they were in Laos. They want to put them in music class, soccer, and other activity that stimulate their mind with creativity and body with with physical activity.
Lao Nork get up at 5 AM to get ready to work. They drive 1 sometime 2 hours to get to work. They get off at 4 PM to pick up their kids at school and take them to after school class or sport. They then come home by 6PM to prepare dinner for the family. Then they help their children with their with home work. They clean up the house. By now it is 10 PM. Husband and wife now have time to talk among themselves to see how their day was. They go to sleep and repeat the same thing next day.
They teach their kids to be a good Buddhist and go to temple every festival to listen to Dhamma talk and give alms to the monks.


Lao Nai = Poor

Not much to do in Laos in term of job. Keep asking Lao Nok relatives for money in several thousands of dollars like we own a bank. when we give them few hundreds they say **** about us like we are greedy. Lao Nai get up at 5am and go do what they do. By noon they take 2 hours nap. After work they go socialize and get drunk on BeerLao.

Hard Materialism = American way of life...

Do you really convinced, really you are happier than Lao Nai, with USD hardly gained, ?? we've called that  SLAVERY,,  ok a modern slavery...

Whatever you do, your Boss is looking on you as a foreigner, don't worry about that ! work, work, work again,or die ,    and you'll be happy.

In our mother land, you are happy with what you own , every faces you see, are like yours,  Laotians !

Friends went to Laos and told some Lao live in a poor condition. So much poverty but they have cell phone. Most of them.

Materialism is everywhere. Not just in America.

Saffon, I like your comments that is 200% percent true of what you said, and I am also Lao Nok living in USA.  We Lao Nok working so hard just to support our family and also have to send money to our relatives back home in Laos.  When we sponsor our relatives here to the states they lives like a king or queen.

Lao people please stop hating on each other whether you live in Laos or not; we are still Lao.

Lao Nok and Lao Nai it does not matter as long as your heart and soul is Lao.

Don't worry about US Dollar if the US is going down the whole world is going dowing with it too.  Just wait and see.  The future is not going to be so bright after all.  It is going not up but down.

Natural disaster, globe warming, pollutions, contamination of water, earthquake, floods, shortness of food.

It the end of the world as we know it, so every human, animals, and everyone and thing in this world will not escape.  The whole world will affected not just United States.

Every religious books predicted this coming event of the end of the world.

In the 90's Thailand had a booming economy. In April '97 Thailand devaluate the baht. In July Philippine devalute the peso.

I don't want to go thru timeline of the crisis. My point is that countries invested in each other economy.

Economic talk, I would not like to be back in the 96-97 ... it was really hard... in just one second one could be in dept for several hundred millions as the exchange rates plummed in that period of time... brrr ! thanks heaven ! we can immerge from it ! So lao nok or lao nai ! Let`s try to be happy, I really don`t care how much money I could get at the end of the year like nowaday, the only precious thing that I love the most is Happiness. Yes, I do agree with you. You are right. When you have Thai citizen, of course you are Thai 100%.  The same goes for other Lao people in other countries.
