Laos GDP ranked very low (137 out of 183) !

Laos GDP ranked 137 out of 183 with US$3,404 millions in 2006. Please
check below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28nominal%29

Also, please read information on GDP at the following link.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gross_domestic_product

We can see that despite an increasing Lao GDP, Laos still needs lots
of efforts in job creation for the Lao people, so that their standard
of living can see a notable improvement. It is not an easy task for
any Lao government: Past, Present and Future.

not too bad for a landlocked country which was mostly bombed by the USAF in the secret war and if my calculation was correct the percapita is arround 607 USD...this year, it would be 700 USD and in several years to come we might climb to 800 USD...i think we are not very far from this target !
regards.

Laos, Vietnam and Cambudia (3 countries were bombed recently) are still in the same GDP/capita: Laos population is almost 6 million, Vietnam around 83 million and Cambudia is around 15 million.

the problem doesn't cause by the bombs only. all lao people knew that well.
don't  just blame on the bombs,
blame on your head and your mind.  i was born in north of laos and i'm
currenthly live in north and vientian. i knew pretty well what going on here.

Laos GDP ranked 137 does not maen it's bad or good. Laos is only 32 years. From a weak baby was born after attacked by war,  but we can see that our people's life is getting better day by day, no one can refuse it. Today Laos is like a teenager, we are now stronger, move fastlier. Laos always puts its future hope on new Lao generation(N.L.G). So in the next future, what Laos to be is depended on all of our (N.L.G) performance.
who said " blame on your head your mind", i'd like to tell you that you should not blame your self here.

I wish the NLG would not use so many Ridiculously Useless Acronyms (ROA) when they describe their Future Differences with their Elders (FDE) because there is No Good Reason (NGR) for using ROA regardless of whether you are an NLG with FDE because it is Really Bad English (RBE).

as someone said recently, maipar kham gathers bamboo shoot from forest or lung dee caught fish from the river might be an income for the family but never include in the PDG, imagine how much money parkham and lung dee would make in one year by gathering bamboo shoot, wild mushroom and wild veggy and fish + their rice and vegetable production...i think they would make more than USD 607 per year...

Please don't dwell on these numbers only. Don't measure only in money. Just about everyone in Laos has a place to live. Most people know who their family is.

I would be content if everyone had all the healthcare and food they needed. Money is only one measure of well being.

Think about this. Why do people from China and Vietnam try to sneak into Laos to live? Lao people don't try to sneak into their country.
