Construction Of New Hinheup Bridge To Start...

(KPL) On January 11,2008 the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Project for the construction of Hinheup Bridge was held at the construction site with the attendance of H.E. Mr. Soulivong DALAVONG, Minister of planning and Investment, and H.E. Mr Masaaki Miya****a, Ambassador of Japan. The project, financed by the grant assistance of the Government of Japan amounting to 933 million (933,000,000) yen, has just started its actual construction works.
The Government and people of the Lao PDR have been eager to construct a new Hinheup Bridge for a long time, considering the deteriorated condition of the existing bridge that is already nearly 70 year old and damaged heavily. The government of Japan has decided to provide assistance to this project in response to such as urgent demand.
This project is expected to greatly contribute to the safe and smooth transport between the central and northern parts of the Lao PDR.
The Hinheup Bridge is located in National Road No.13, which is considered to be strategically the most important road for the nationwide transport network. After the completion of the project, the flow of people and goods will be further expanded, and the economic and social development of the Lao PDR will be further enhanced.
