(KPL) The Lao PDR will have the most natural beautiful golf course in ASEAN and region, which combined smoothly with forests, river and mountain is located in Luang Prabang province, built by the Republic of Korea’s investors worth US$20 million.
The new golf course construction project in Luang Prabang province is one of important projects in Laos to support the government’s socio-economic development plan, particularly the promotion of tourism sector.
According to Dr Khampheng Saysompheng, Deputy Governor of Luang Prabang province told KPL journalist last week that now golf course construction is being run smoothly due to our good preparedness and good co-operation between state sector and local authority.
More than 80% of local people living in construction site have agreed to support this project, after local authority has amended compensation rate of land increased to US$2500 per a hectare, from US$700 to local people who living the construction areas.
He said that before starting the project, large number of local people dissatisfied because the cheap compensation considering lower than local market worth only US$700 per a hectare.
Facing the problem, the constructed company has agreed to increase the compensation to US$2,500 per hectare with an approval fund around 7 billion kip to remove local people in the construction site.
This project covers five villages with a total population of 700 families, the Phay village has been badly affected than other village where about 100 households would be removed to the other new resettlement.
The new golf course has a total land concession of 300 hectares and it expects to complete in 2010.
