Government starts upgrading Vietnamese language to Lao officials !!!

So what language does the Vietnamese teach their officials? LAO??
((((( I DON"T THINK SO ))))))

That is a STUPID act they have done. English widely spoken by every political officials in the world and it is probably for business and commerce as well.

If Laos officials every go to Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Japan, or Somewhere in Europe, Africa or South America......are they going to speak Vietnamese to the officials of those countries? That is so retarded for them to make it a requirement to speak Vietnamese instead of English.

Come on Lao people wake up! Instead of learning madarin, french, english we are going to teach our government vietnamese? We have to realize that who is our friends and enemies, vietnam is definitely not our friends. Why did hundreds of thousands of Lao people fled our homeland and settle in other countries?

Yes, it would be no harm for Lao officials to learn Vietnamese language, if you have time and want to communicate only with Vietnamese people.

The more the foreign languages you know the better. However, it is imposible to learn languages spoken by people around the world. But, if you can learn English or French you can save your time since people around the world can speak these language. This method is a way of clever people.

Cannot talk too much, it depends on your vision and your background, no doubt. You want to go far or just go to Vietnam.

On top of that Vietnamese people also can speak English or French.

That is the thinking of the current Lao leadership. They want Lao officials to know and speark Vietnamese language a lot better. That is a waste of time and effort.

I think it is important for Laotian to learn its neighbors' languages such as Thai, Myanmar, Vietnamese, Khmer, and chinese. I do not mean everyone have to learn, but those who have to work or cooperate with those countries regularly.

Lao officials should learn to speak and understand Chinese, Mandarin chinese, better. Not many Lao officials know Chinese language. China is one of the world's Super Powers, not vietnam.

if this is true.... the lao government is really going backward!! unless, they plan to move half of vietnam population to laos anytime sooon.. i dont see why they need to teach high ranking official some vietnamese langauge...

what they should do..... teach those custom agents at the airport some english..

Lao government did that because of special tie between Lao and Vietnam. It means Lao and Vietnam coorporate in every domains including military. That's the special agreement, so it is not bad idea to speak the language of a close ally.

Because soon there will be more khon vietnam than khon lao at Laos and that' why the lao goverment wanted the vietnamese language to their officail.

wouldn't it be more logical to teach them english??? more and more tourists/investors are coming to laos...

i really think that... those custom agents at the airport/bridges shall speak english..

Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam said in Austrailia that he expected in 80% of Vietnamese universities all courses would be taught in English, no more in Vietnamese language. This I heard from ABC radio. They seem really clever.

Why don't Lao leaders learn at least 10% from them, I wonder?

No wonder Laos is still poor. We are still happy with walking after buffalo.

Promoting, recognizing, and teaching Vietnamese language to their elite officials is just plain stupid. They want to keep walking behind the buffalo (like the other guy said) and smell the buffalo poop. Why do they hate english so much as not even to promote it??????????????????????????????????????

China is teaching Lao pilot and engineer in ENGLISH not Vietnamese. So does Laos send Vietnamese enterpreter eith those Lao pilots? You see how this work?
Chinese teach class in English, Viet insterpreter translate to Vietnamese for Lao pilot.

Knowledge is power. FYI, Vietnam is Lao PDR's closest Ally, militarily and politically. In addition to knowing English and French, it is critical that our Lao Government officials are fluent in the languages of our neighboring countries and ally. Laos is no longer a landlocked country as in the past. We are now a "landlink" nation.
