Laotian authorities have recently pledged to provide Vietnam with suitable timber to restore ancient royal relics in central Vietnam in preparation for coming festivals to be held there.
Laos’ Sekong province agreed to provide 150 cubic meters of high quality timber for restoring series of historical sites in the former imperial city of Hue, said Phan Ngoc Tho, a senior official of the provincial Thua Thien - Hue People’s Committee.
The kind of wood, suitable for carving, will be used for the repair of wooden structures in the relics that were damaged by floods last year.
They all need timely restorations to serve visitors during the Hue Festival 2008, Tho said.
This is the second time Laos has given Vietnam a large amount of wood.
Previously, the Lao government donated 200 cubic meters of precious wood for central province of Thua Thien-Hue to restore relics.
Usually if I gave you 2, you would have to to give me back 4 or 5 or even 10. Otherwise, I would not give you if I do not see anything to gain back.
So, be careful Lao people.
Actually, I support the idea that we have a mutually benefit. We should have a businesslike relationship with other countries.
Don't be happy that somebody give something to you for free to day, one day those people will take something from you more than 10 times, you will cry, no doubt.
