(KPL) The basis of the Lao economy is concentrated in Vientiane Capital and central provinces which covered 55 per cent of the total national economy. The conclusion was quoted from the result of the first nationwide economic survey launched last year by the Steering Committee for National Economic Survey.
The survey showed that the economic activities based in Vientiane Capital accounted for 23 per cent of the entire economy, followed by the provinces of Vientiane, Savannakhet, Champassak, Sayaboury and Luang Prabang. The economic activities of these provinces are based on agriculture, industrial production and service supply, considered the majority.
However the proportion of national economic units is not much different, such as Phongsaly, Luang Namtha, Sekong and Attopeu provinces averaged at least 2 per cent on each. It demonstrated clearly that the different conditions of location and other environments as a factor for translating natural agriculture approach to modernised industry as well as the economic development between provinces, districts and rural areas.
The economic structure division of each part is proposed to concentrate on the agriculture producing practices or the commercial movement as a main activity, which covered almost 60 per cent of all parts.
For the central part of the country would have a lot of agricultural production units.
