(KPL) Mr. Phongsavad Boupha, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs has expressed the view that Taiwan is a part of China and can not unilaterally separate from the People’s Republic of China.
Mr. Phongsavad made the statement on 14 March at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the Chinese ambassador to Laos, Mr. Pan Guang Xue, informed him of the statement released by the Taiwanese leader.
The Taiwanese have stated they are considering holding a referendum on independence and application for United Nations membership.
According to a press release from the ministry, Mr. Phongsavad said the Taiwanese efforts run counter to the unification process, which is contrary to the fundamental interests of the Chinese people, and will have a negative impact on relations in the Taiwan Strait, as well as affecting regional and global peace, stability and security.
The government of the Lao PDR consistently adheres to the “ One China” policy, maintaining that Taiwan is a part of China and can not unilaterally separate from the People’s Republic of China.
The Lao government has always supported all endeavours by the Chinese government and people to protect their sovereignty and territory in a bid to amicably unite the country in line with their policy of “ one country, two political systems”.
This goal would also protect the country’s peace and statbility, as well as development co-operation in the region and the world.

Corruption is everywhere, is not uniquely a Lao problem. Yes, there are a few corrupted Lao Government officials. The Lao Government do acknowledged the growing problem of corruption in the Country and all level of the Government. It is a serious problem for the Lao Government and the Party. However, the Lao Government are doing everything it can to stem the tide of corruption.

Laos is a firm ally to China, seeing as how they are both Socialist. Of course Laos will agree to whatever China does.
