The restaurant is a training fooderie for street kids, so you can do good by having a darned good meal.
It's a project run by Friends International with funding from a variety of sources including UNICEF, Give 2Asia, AusAid and the Haugland Foundation as well as through collaboration from Lao's Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. The first concept restaurant was established in Phnom Penh, using loan money from Australian mining giant BHP Billiton. As a sign of how popular the restaurant has become, they have been able to pay every cent back.

At the second floor of Makphet restaurant , a small boutique "Noi-Noi" displays a modern reinterpretation of Lao handicrafts made by mothers of children at high social risk, to allow their children to continue in school.
