I have never heard Lao government refuse any dam project in Laos.
Have you ever heard such news? Please tell me.

PHoto from greendiscovery about Nam Lik as a great opportunity to explore the nature of the Nam Lik. It is possible to see wildlife along the way such as monkeys, wild boar, rare birds, iguana and other reptiles.

Now read this news >>

(KPL) The government has allowed Hydro Engineering (Thailand) to develop Nam Lik I Hydropower Plant in Vientiane province, according to its newly signed agreement with the foreign investor.

The agreement was signed on 8 April in Vientiane among the witness by Deputy Minister to Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Boviengkham Vongdara, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mining Mr. Somboune Lasasombath and concerned officials.
In July 2006 the contact company signed an MOU on feasibility study on the project with the government of Laos.

After its construction complete, with an investment of 109 million US dollars, the plant in Hine Heup district of Vientiane province could generate 249 Gwh a year.

I'm the one who's not agree with that
you can make dam for improve economic
but you can't build the old environment
Big tree, how many year will take?
wild life, we can't raise it like chicken
wild flowers, we can't plant or grow at home
Ecology will change a lot
how about global warming?
make a Dam have to cut lots of tree
move local people to another village but how long will take them to be used to it
Poor people will be more because they lose their agriculture land
Laos is the one beautiful country for eco-tourism and eat a fresh, good fish
why don't be try harder to promote eco-tourism, maybe it will make more incomes in the future then we'll have lots of forest, wild life and everything nice still.
I like to see Laos develop in the best way

You can still do eco-tourism but the business will decline in few more years due to progress. Just don't speak out against the logging because it is destroying your eco-tourism business.

c`est une idee fixe, mon cher lanxang ! we cannot change the government`s mind but at least the government should think of bad impact to the ecology system and to our grand children and great grandchildren, they wouldn`t have flat land to live on, they would climb the mountain to build their house on because all the flat land would be submerged, inundated, I wonder whether the government had or not calculated the density of our population in twenty years to come and how many chinese children would born in thatluang marsh in fifty years and is it sure that all these chineses shall go back to china or infiltrate in the lao society ??? would we have enough land and ricefield to produce enough food for such huge number of people ???
regards.

Oh! It's great that we have someone who knows the better way to develop Laos. I would really appreciate if you could tell us how to do.

calm down guys, every Lao people wants to have Laos developed in the best way, but the development proccess is so complex and sometimes goes beyond what we want. because the development of one nation is biggest task that  the majority of population have involved. Just imagine, we just begin to talk, but we have to face with our friend's different ideas. So, I think it cannot be justified almost all people. the importance is to justify the majority.

Anyway, everyone should do our best in our duty.
