Why Lao people like to compare stupid person to buffaro?
It is the Lao farmer's best friend, and very important animal in Lao history, or equivalent to Lao elephants.

that is thai people compare stupid person to buffaro, but lao people compare stupid person to dog but i know dog very smart.

There is no word of buffaro in English dictionary, there is only buffalo, which means Kuay in Lao language.
