Yeah, after I saw the rock bedding scattered along the railway, I would tell them to do a better job. This one is a waste of money and ugly. I don't like it.
The train is a new thing for Lao people. I'm afraid children will run across the railway and hit by the train. The traffic sign of railway is not yet included in Lao traffic sign book, and public media should teach Lao people how to use it in the right way.
the train will go very slow because the line is only 3,5 km (2 km from the train station to the border bridge). The railway cross only one road (in fact 2, but for the second one, there is a bridge), and there willl be only very few trains/day (at the begining) Most of the railway is also very high. you have to climb to reach the railway. it don't look so dangerous... but i hope parents won't let their children play there.
FYI, this is the link to my photo galery dedicated to the railway and train station construction: http://www.paris-vientiane.fr/index.php?file=Gallery&op=categorie&cat=24
