(KPL) Vientiane’s Party Secretary and Vice Mayor, Mr Sombath Yialiheu, chaired a meeting on Nongtha Park Development Project on 23 June.

Representatives of three private companies including Somvanchaleun Bridge Construction, Vietnam Investment Consulting and Kim Yeuang discussed the leisure development project with the authorities of Vientiane.

Nongtha Park is the investment of Vientiane to transform Nongtha Swamp in Chanthaboury district to a recreation complex for Vientiane residents and visitors.

It is estimated that the project will cost almost 600 billion kip (US$70 million), which will be developed by the three companies.

The project is expected to be over in three months. The complex will be include a modern nine-storey hotel and three Lao traditional houses.

The development is part of the celebration activities of Vientiane’s 450th founding anniversary in 2010.

During the talks to the meeting Mr Sombath urged the companies to make their effort in developing the park as an attractive part of Vientiane and complete the project in time.
