As Khmer play Kaen or Kehn, It does not mean they say it is their national instrument. Possibly they play Kehn because they may want to indicate that it is just a performance telling some story about Laos or Lao culture like Thai or lao wear japanese traditional clothes in some movies or some performances. As you can see the female dancers still wear Lao traditional clothes. This shows that they still respect that this performance is  borrowing Lao cuture to assist their performance

Khene is Lao instrument, but Cambodian King or prince like is so much when he visited Laos, this was back in the colonial era of France Iive. I read it from some where. Who knows that might be Lao Yor who are ethnically Lao in Streng Tung province which was once part of Laos, but again French gave it away to the Cambodian. Cambodian copy from LukThung Isan as you know. Khmer and Lao Thung could be called brother, but Lao Loum is not.

I think it is Strung Treng province where Lao ethnic people live in both Kratie and Strung Treng provinces in northern Cambodia.

Sonny, you confuse me at first because I thought you meant real Cambodian that have something in common or like you said brother. Lao Yor in Cambodia is no doubt a Lao, but Cambodian citizen just like many millions of Lao in Isan in Thailand that are Lao, but Thai citizen. I see that this video is like a tribute to Laos and her culture as you can see that look like a Laos's flag with a circle of the moon on the background. Next time don't say Khmer is the same as Lao, but rather say Lao Yor, Lao Khmer, or Lao in Cambodia have the same culture as Lao because those are Lao people too. Lao Yor have a TV show on Nat TV, I'm surprised that they speak Lao in Xieng Khoung accent just like me....
