i think they are doing a great jobb in trying to better our country i mean they are small moves and some large ones but progress is progress and i see alot of that happening in laos.
i'm very happy and enthusiastic to see that Laos is developping, poverty reducing, see that the country get better infrastructure...etc...
but i also worry a lot because i see lao people doing excatly the same mistakes in laos as we did in our "developped countries" With their new money, people are copying what we did in the last 20 years, not what we are doing now and trying to do for the future.
Just an example (we could get many others) : I'm very angry when i see so many people driving big pick up in the center of Vientiane, alone in their cars, using lot of gaz for nothing, polluting, using lot of place in the streets or to park their big car and so generating big trafic jams, being dangerous for bicycles and motorbikes..... this is a behaviour of the 90es.... not of the 21st century!!! We know now that it's irresponsible.
In a few words, Laos is little by little getting the benefits of the currents "modern countries", but also their drawback.... not sure the overall balance is benefical!
I would strongly prefer lao people to have a very critical point of view over other countries lifestyle, and importing only the good things and not the bad ones. I worry a lot that laos could loose it's soul in the next few years.... i hope not
yes!! for the most part... Laos is doing pretty good of what they have... the way i see it.. since Laos is far behind in alot of different areas.... they are moving forward from now on... i'm happy to see the motherland start to shine.. more and more people know about Laos.

but what do u guys think of our unity??
i for one believe differences are good in our country such as ethnicities butt i fear sometime that can cause divisions and problems i hope their is some way that we all can feel the sense of One nation. language should be our biggest hope Lao language should be used as a tool to create this unity such as only speak lao while in school and every where else and be allowed to speak what ever u want at home.
we still have many , many things to change. i cannot say having a vigo toyota or a lexus is a bad thing but we should think to make economy for the future and while the price of the oil is rocketing like nowaday. we have to slow down purchasing new cars but increasing the rice production and strengthening the infra structure of our country, we still have many problems to cope with like allocation for children who go to school, their daily food, their costumes, the allocation for old people, primary schools in rural area, the quality of our actual education system, the skill of our officials...PV was right when he worried about the future of the environment and economy of our country . regards chiip
Vigo is for sure very good when you need to carry many goods or people, or drive through very bad roads.... but Vigo have nothing to do in the middle of the city to carry just one person (the driver)
