South Korea provides educational grant to Vientiane Capital
(KPL) A contract signing ceremony to commemorate the provision of a grant worth US$ 37,000 and three computers by a South Korean NGO to the Department of Education of Vientiane Capital was held in Vientiane Capital on 16 July.
The two signatories were Mr Wangyangho, Vice Governor of Khongchi province of the Republic of South Korea and Mr Khamphaung Choummaly, Deputy Head of Department of Education of Vientiane Capital.
The grant will be used to improve the general education services and to set up the education development center for students and youths in Xaythany district, Vientiane Capital.
The name of this center is “Good Land Center” and it will teach the English and Korean languages and compute software.
The center will also organise study tours and provide facilities for the young people to play computer games.
The money from South Korea comes from the fund raising efforts of the Korea Buddhism Organisation. In the past it gave a grant for the construction of Done-Noun nursery and the repair of three schools in Xaythany district. In future this organisation will provide assistance for the construction of a school in Sam-orn village, Xaythany district and scholarships to five teachers for training in Korea.
