A few seconds of coverage of our Laos by NBC
Permalink

furiousfuriousfurious  I was watching NBC coverage of Olympic Opening Ceremony from the start waiting to see our Laos to shine, but it was shown merely 4 seconds (?). Though we might not be an important country, but we deserve common courtesy just like any other participated countries.  I am not pleased with NBC showing the quick footage of Laos in such a very short blink of an eye. Damn you NBC. You make me despise of your inconsiderateness.

doh Thank you. If we were not that damn poor, we would be able to send more pretty Laotian girls to carry our flags accompanying our 4 athletes, so they don't feel so small. I think they feel nervous with a group of only 10(?) marching down. Are'nt we the only country that consists of 10 persons carrying our flags? Unbelievable. We have four years to save up some cash and we can't even buy tickets on our own,but depend on donation from IOC. Where is our pride. Do we have any?

do not be so bias, I watch most of opening event.

Laos was not not bad at all, because many many countries, which have more and population than Laos, just came with 2,4,5.... not more than 10. just be proud of when seeing the Lao flag in among the international people. it means a lot

dohPlease don’t say dirty poor. It’s unfortunate that we are poor; I can’t deny that. Our dignitaries have to find a way change this image. They need to be more susceptible to domestic poverty and the world’s perception of them.  We should never again fight a civil war. It had caused many setbacks and delay in developing our country. Unity makes us strong, and division will definitely make our country become weak.  Laos should strive for better and be wise in decision making.  We should aim high and expect to rise in the 21st century. We should stack up our country against the richer powerful nation and learn from them.

Instead of saying: just like any other participated countries.

You should say: just like other participating countries. Participaing, not participated countries.

There are some more English incompretension in this topic:  such as "jealous you" instead of

"jealous of you"

Correction: Incomprehensions, instead of incompretensions.

biggrinbiggrinI typed so fast at 55 words per a second and there are times that I misspelled or used grammatical error and even omitted words that I meant to use. I am not getting pay here, so I don't really care abut my English. Besides, who ispayingyou to do the proofreading and correcting people? WTF is English incompretension? Is that your new word. Please don't try to teach me English in the future. I would highly appreciate it.

Idiot you make it sounds like I have always used my excuse when this is the first time I ever said it about my typing speed and please don't tell that I would embarrass by own people. For your info, I earned a degree in finance. I have joined many discussion forums and people made mistakes all the time, but nobody gave a sh1t. It's just merely a discussion and it's not an English class. If you want to be the perfectionist, that's fine with me but keep it to yourself. Nobody asks you to be a teacher and I don't believe you know perfect English either. yawnyawnyawn

Look at you! Resembling a monkey, and I must say that you picked the appropriate emoticon to describe yourself.  What a pitiful money you are. Nobody ever asked you to be an English teacher in the forum, but you assigned yourself.  Do you want my appreciation? LOL.

Why don’t you try to contribute something here instead of making yourself look like a fool? I would love to read your meaningful discussion about economy, military, politic and all.

Idiot. I have never assigned myself as an Englih teacher anywhere. I just want to point out the mistakes you made since you are proficient in Finance class and a graduate from the university. You always give an excuse for your mistake. I saw your first excuse in a topic about Lao women that you said you don't want them to wed with the slanted eyes Chinese, Malasians and Singaporeans. Isn't that your article. You are a racist Lao with the Mexican girl friend.

biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Wow! This is the most highly educated discussion forum I’ve ever participated.  It seems like you can’t tolerate any misspelled words or grammatical error at all.  Excuse me! May be I should be more careful the next time I write down my thought since my hands are normally faster than words  that come out of my mouth .  I did not know it can be such a big deal to you.  I did not even bother rereading my writings once I am done then I am done.  If I would have known that someone like you would be checking our English here, I will try to type a little bit slower next time and please forgive me for my poor English. Will you? Even third generation-American born in my English class often made mistakes. But thanks anyway.

Nope. We got  no pride. We live and survive on a charity from goodwill of other countries.
We  really have no pride when IOC gave money to send 4 athletes but why do we also need to send 6 support people as well? It sould be so much better if we had send 6 more athletes.

Anonymous,

Who are "we" are you referring to? If you're not a Lao citizen then please kindly respect our right to privacy! There is a Lao proverb that goes like this:

"If they did not call on you, please do not replied and if they did not asked for your services, please do not make the offer."

I don't think the "NO SOLICITATION" sign would be necessary in this world if certain individuals learn to fully utilize their brains.

The Olympic game is NOT the Lao Government's ONLY priority. The GoL have a GAZILLION things to do and the SEA Game to host. The GoL certainly does not have unlimited resources like other nation to be wasted. By have a large Olympic representation does not help Laos graduated out of the least developed nation status.

YOU have to think positive.  Be a humble and good person and say thank you to the person who teach you to be smarter person then before. Personally I like it when people correct my mistake; it make me a better person next time and I get to learn new things and I am smarter then 1 minutes ago because people teach me the right way how to do thing. You learn as you go.  People teach people.  No need to spend money for school.  Money is for basic need likes: food, drink, clothe, shelter, and security. It's a duty of every Lao person to share intellectual, and educational informations to each others and make Lao people smart or smarter like the rest of the world population.

It is considered ignorant and disrespectful when you don’t even know that person.  If you want to be kind, and you want to share your English, you can simply ask if it is ok to make some corrections for him or her. If there is no response, then just ignore it.  I am not that proficient in English language either, but since you sound like you really want to learn then allow me to point out some basic mistakes that you made.

[You can also say it like this.  Be a good humble person and say thank you to the person who teaches you to be smarter than before]

[Personally, I like it when people correct my mistake; it makes me a better person and the next time, I'll get to learn new things. I would be smarter than I was a minute ago because people teach me the right way to do thing]

[
Money is for basic need like: food, drink, clothes, shelter and security.]

When we don’t often use our written English, we are prone to grammatical errors, and I don’t care if you are born here as a Caucasian American because you would make the same mistakes just like anybody else.

Best regards from BruceLaoMan.

To whom it may concern: Don't use the word "then" when it should be "than"
such as in "rather than",  more than, less than, larger than, smaller than, etc.

One English word makes a big difference. It will change your spelling for the rest of your life. And it will make you smarter and more knowledgei. The problem is you may have made many more mistakes than just one word.
