the demand of people and the need of farmers, Laos need to increase the import of eletricity from the neighboring countries (Thailand, Vietnam and china). LAOS (EDL) estimate that the import of eletricity will increase 14% this year...
my question is... where all the electricity produced in Laos, and why do we need to import electricity? If I am not mistake, Laos is a bactery of Asia, Aren't we?
i think, it is transfering, coz laos export electricity to neighboring country, and use the closiest substation to transfer back to laos, coz laos doesn't have from north to south and east to west wired.
Luangnamtha province import from Yunan electricity power ,china thakek 's electricity import from Nakhompanom (thailand) we export the electricity to the neighboring countries and meanwhile we import as well, Namthurn 2 hydro power protect will be completed in the end of 2009 and 90 % will be sold to thailand and 10% will be contributing in Laos, especially in thakek and other provinces that import the electricity from aboard.
Laos wont buy or import the electricity from neighboring countries after Namturn 2 project completed and many dams still under construction~~~

It's imposible that Thakek imports electricity from Thailand. There is Theun Hinboon Hydropower plant in Khammouane province.
But I do agree that Savannakhet still imports electricity from Thailand for time being for gold mine project in Sepon.
the transamission line from Nakhonpanom near my house .. Thurn Bin boun export to Thailand, I priticipated the construction of power station at Ban Wen, where the 3rd friendship will be built
laotians need to be more independent. sheesh, we have the mekong at our disposal and we're still relying on thailand for electricity? gosh sometimes i wish i was the lao president..
