A broken promise

Yeah, BruceLao
this is a sad news for our people in Laos especially the poor families, What can they do for Living in the countryside? what is opportunity that the Local government has provided to them? I 've traveled and surveyed in many districts of central and southern Laos, I discovered that there are no Young people in the village expect the old man and children. ' They are working in thailand, some lost contract, some still keep sending the money to their parent" according to the local says,
for those who are lucky . they can earn a bit money and send back to their families in Laos, but what about unlucky one? they just lost contact and no news about them, some just were cheated by thai people and were forced by thai Police to rob the money.

I met some girl who returned back from thailand, they are so open and act as hooker in Laos. what s the hell with those girl,they are only 14, ?
anyway, i am hoping that everything it will be better after Laos is more open and provides more working opportunities to the young people in the remote areas!!!

Lao came out with a movie relating to this story few years back... It was funded by UNPD. it was a sad and true story.

Cholbury. She is just one young Lao girl who sold herself at a place like that. I guess there nust be many thousands of Lao girls working at massage parlours and the whore housesin Thailand and beyond,

when i visited pattaya, i was a little shocked to see those bars with araes somewhere in the center with girls in their skimpiest best gather around, waiting for customers - even at 10 in the morning. and everywhere you turn, there are bars like this. pattaya is appaling in that sense. too bad, coz it's beaches are nice.

You sound like a cool guy and you do have the potential to better your English proficiency, so I just want to be a little helpful by making some corrections for you, and I hope you compare to your original sentences. I regard you as a good friend in Samakomlao site. I will answer your question tomorrow about the possibility of other development and opportunity in Laos. I am tired today.

I hope that everyone could understand my broken English, as you have said Brucelao, as long as you have the Passion to do something, just do it no matter what!! Frankly, I never leaned English in the class, I leaned from the temple!! and from American Movie, thats why my english is so bad...

As conservative as India, Pakistan, Nepal and other parts of the world have always been, but due to the need to survive and the common desire to escape from poverty, prostitution can be the only hope at time either by choice or by trick. In the worst case scenario, parents also sell their kids when the need within the family can no longer be avoidable. Exactly because of this, we fail to give them a chance to be what they are ---ordinary people. Their basic humane aspects and sensibilities are too often ignored. There are also tales that penetrate too deep into their lives and show gross images beyond the curtains---images depicting scenes from their personal or professional lives, leaving no room or respect for their privacy. Or we disguise their identities assuming we are protecting them and in the process, we take away their right to be. In our effort to protect the identities of the 'vulnerable,' we mask their eyes with black tapes, and whether intended or not, make them look like criminals. Sometimes these dark areas are actually dark, but at time we fail to open our eyes. We approach such issues with closed minds and try to fit everything we see into the pre-constructed boxes. Thus, in spite of all the efforts, the daughters of darkness remain in the dark.

A blind Badi woman conducts sex work to support her parents and siblings, with her daughter on left and her father on right carrying her son. Far Western Nepal. It is extremely difficult for Badi girl children to escape a life of prostitution. Most of the few Badi girls who enter primary school soon drop out, in part because they are treated as untouchables- and worse, as members of a “sex worker caste”- and in part because girls are encouraged by their families to direct their lives toward sex work.

LOL, that’s a picture of Bruce Lee who used to be my idol when I was a kid. I liked him not because how well he could fight, but his open mind made me respect him a lot. I still recall reading his biography when he offended many of his folks by stating facts about traditional Kung Fu. He said, “Kung Fu is too classical, only for show. It looks nice in performance, but who would fight with you with a set pattern.”

Many Chinese people were outrageous and they said he was born yesterday; the Kung Fu had been practiced for generation, so they sent their boys to challenge him for a fight in Oakland and he beat the crap out of them. I don’t mean to be conceited but I used to look like him when I was a teenager.

since you're big bruce lee fan... you should take a trip to seattle, washington to see his resting place. it is one of the popular tourist site.. specially if you're into martial art

where is about his graveyard in seattle? I was there on a business trip three weeks ago, i thought about going there to look at.

Anyway, Seattle is beautiful city - the scenery is amazing, love everything east of the lake washington. where is lao in seattle? i couldn't find one lao restuarant up there.

yes!! bruce lee grave site is in seattle.. you should check it out next time you're there..

alot of laotian in seattle.. perhaps you didnt know where to look.. i know one good lao restaurant in seattle.. where you can get "larb seen".. tum mark hoong and som moo.. it is locate in southeast of town..
