LAOS, Oct 3 (KPL) - Vientiane administration is currently busy preparing rice and cash crop seeds to supply Vientiane farmers who affected by recent flood.
More than 1,700 tons of rice seeds, 132.5 tons of maize seeds and 12.5 tons of bean seeds are expected to give to local farmers as a key for mobilizing farmers to plant rice and substitute the damage areas.
The plan was discussed at an annual meeting of Vientiane administration on 30 September, under the Chairmanship of Dr Sinlavong Khoudphaithoun, Vientiane Mayor, that drew the representatives from different sectors.
The vaccination practice for animal will be operated in 38 villages in Saysettha and Pakngum districts.
Many items of goods prices in Vientiane Capital have been controlled strictly during flood such as rice, fish, vegetable and material construction.
The meeting considered 33 investment projects of foreign and domestic businesspeople with a total cost of US$27 million.
The construction of Dongdok-Dongphousy road project, Nongtha public park development project, Saysettha public park construction project and the improvement of That Luang Stupa’s corridor were reported at the meeting.
Flood victims have so far received relief aid package from Vientiane administration.
Presently more than 230 villages in Vientiane have been established as culture and sanitation villages thanks to the concerted efforts of Vientiane’s Executive Baord. .
The Vientiane’s mobilizing fund for Mekong flood provention was strongly contributed by international organizations, private sectors, foreign embassy and Vientiane residents which earned 2.22 billion kip, 47,700 Thai baht, US$153,533, and 500,000 Vietnamese dong.This month, Vientiane will focus on agriculture production and provide other facilities for the agriculture production to substitute the flood areas.(KPL)
